Curious why everyone is so head over heels on the TCB? What do you think they’ll give you that the X CB or Pro isn’t? I mean call me crazy but is this just case of wanting what you can’t have?

I don’t get it either, really. If or when they do release, think there’s going to be a lot of wondering what all that fuss back in January was about.

Haha yeah, I mean it’s not to say I dont think they’re awesome. But Just because that’s what Xander and Rahm are playing doesn’t fire me up. I’m not sure how you can argue with a similar package profile and size wise in the pro but with some added punch and forgiveness. And if you’re a plus capper and you want to tell me the feel and distance control of the TCB appeals to you I’d hear you out, but again, what is the delineation from the X CB and the TCB? Anyways, I digress. Tip of the cap to Callaway this looks to be an excellent release.

have to admit, I am with you.  My son has the XForged CB in the bag, and having seen more pictures of the TCB, I will take a satin more squared version any day - just my 2 cents.

Yep.. I am not a fan of how these TCB look.. I would take the P7-MC over these.

I’m holding out hope that it won’t have as much offset. And, cheaper than the x forged would be nice too 😊

Looks to be about a 1/2 of a mm less than the Pro’s, which aren’t loaded with offset to begin with.

Has anyone noticed that the Apex 21's don't have the removable weights that were in the x forged cb's? The reason I bring it up is if you look at  Xander Schauffele's clubs it looks like he's playing the regular Apex 21's, but they have the removable weight the x forged cb's have. Kind of weird that he's playing a one off set that isn't even offered by Callaway.

Xander is playing some form of the TCB model.

I think this limited Euro release is a bit of a test drive. The. X Forged name has been iconic for the last 15 years, but it doesn't really fit in with the whole Apex thing. So maybe in the next cycle X Forged will be replaced by the TCB globally?

Wow, significantly less offset than the X Forged CB.  Still a head scratcher on why the XFCB has as much as it does for a players profile.

EDIT: Someone pointed out that the TCB is listed in inches and the XFCB is in mm.  So, probably pretty similar between the two.

Will be interesting to see the difference between Apex and Apex DCB, seems strange that they introduced another 'pro' model in the Apex Pro as well as the TCB etc and kept the Apex in its normal category. I would have thought the standard Apex would now become the GI club, instead the standard Apex seems to straddle some weird middle ground between all the 4 more 'player' models below it and the GI DCB above it.

Want a forged players iron we have MB, TCB, XF, a foam Pro etc, Want a GI club with the bonus it's 'Forged' then we have DCB. Standard Apex? ..Maybe for people that can't decide?

It’s because it’s the one that they can’t have in a classic purchase manner and is what Rahm and Xander have, nothing more nothing less.

Alright.  So.  I just grabbed a set of X Forged CB's a few weeks back and they're good.  Only a few sessions with them so far.  Now I want the Apex Pros.

Why am I going to pick one over the other?  They both look amazing, seem to be for a similar type player, but what's the differentiator?

Same question I asked on the conference call with the ECP guys in Carlsbad in December and you're correct that there seems to be a very blurry line between these two irons. The answer I got then was that the two irons offer a high level player a choice between a little extra speed/distance help at the top of the bag from the Pro or not from the X Forged CB. The X Forged CB is a bit more of a "get out of it no more than what you put into it" proposition than the Apex Pro, particularly at the longer end of the set. Some really high level players actually don't want such help, much like they don't want an overly hot and low spinning fairway wood. The differences are subtle, but they become apparent when looking hard enough and with the required measure of consistency in ball striking.

Bottom line, I think the most compelling reason for you to make such a switch would be if you're not getting quite what you need from your X Forged CB long irons. If not, then it may be nothing more than a change for change's sake. Having said that, this is WRX and "they're shiny and I wanted new ones so sue me" is always a valid justification.

With this release, can we safely say that the era of single-piece-forged iron is officially over for Callaway? It’s not a step forward and I just don’t buy the claim that a hollow body structure can promote feel.

With their removable weights I can see not qualifying either of them as a 1 piece iron. How important that is is a matter of opinion, of course.

If you haven't already, it's worth the effort to give the MB, XFCB, and new Pro a test drive. The sweetness of the sound and feel may surprise you (yes, even from the Pro). If it doesn't, so be it.

XFCB is definitely not one-piece; l bought, tried and then sold a 6i. it feels ok but cannot match my gamer which is apex pro dot.

Honestly, other than blades, I think the era of the one piece forging is over in general. Mizuno stopped producing their split cavity with the MP18. At the time they argued that the forgiveness difference between the mb and the sc was so slim that it wasn't really worth it.

I think we'll  mainly see two types of player's irons in the next few years.

1. A blade

2. "High-tech" players CBs like the T100.

Exactly what I figured.  And yeah, I do like the X Forged, but your perfect summary of "shiny" fits me too often.  Likely to have a Player's Iron Showdown in a few weeks that'll lead me to buying some Pros anyway.  Time to save my pennies.

Seeing then MMT 105TX is a stock option in the Apex Pro. Any high swing  speed guys have experience with it? I see it looks like that’s what Ancer plays, figured he’d be in the 125.
