Dry roasted peanuts, Cashews, and Cocktail peanuts. The latter used to be favorite, not so much anymore, since they are brutal on this old guys teeth.

All of them! Cashews and those smoke almonds are like candy, almost too good.

Pistachios prolly my favorite. I remember my dad would give me change to buy them out of a vending machine at Caldors, a now bankrupt Kmart type place.

I actually really like walnuts.

The only ones I don’t like are those giant Brazil nut things.

Does anybody like those?

I'm a huge fan of in-the-shell peanuts. I don't mind standard dry-roasted, but they just don't compare to in-the- shell. Almonds, cashews, and pistachios are a close second.

Walnuts and pecans are best for cooking and confections. Very few things beat good praline.

The one thing I can't understand and can't abide is boiled peanuts. I'm not sure who decided they were good, but whoever it was, they were wrong. Mealy tasteless beans!

I have never gotten onboard with boiled peanuts either. Just seems disgusting.

I like roasted salted deluxe mixed nuts (no peanuts in the jar). I love peanuts, but they always have entirely too many. My favorite are probably macadamia nuts, but they’re so expensive by comparison, I just don’t buy them too often.

Yeah, "disgusting" is the word for boiled peanuts.

I like peanuts and I like trying regional delicacies, so I gave them an honest shot when I lived in Alabama. I got some at a ball game. I got some from the local gas station. I got some from the dude on the side of the road who everyone swore had "the best," and all were equally disappointing.

The boiling process turns the nuts into a mealy, crumbly mess - similar to undercooked beans. They are also about 3 times as expensive as your typical bag of roasted in the shell peanuts.

I get the sense I was trying to consume them incorrectly, or perhaps my expectations were a bit off.

Cashews & pecans.  Almonds too....till my dentist told me she has more people with broken teeth from eating raw almonds, even more than popcorn kernels.

That's interesting. I actually find the raw almonds softer than roasted. Roasted are more brittle, but they are crunchier, if that makes sense.

Does anyone eat ballpark peanuts shell and all?  I’ll eat about 1 in 20 whole, there are some that just feel and look right to eat that way - crispy, salty, crunchy.

Of course you'd be the dude who eats the shells too. Somehow this all oddly makes sense.

I'm not trying to be disparaging in any way here, BTW. I love your curmudgeonly nature.

I'm on board for this right here - occasionally you get one that screams to be eaten whole - so good!

I like boiled peanuts in a coke as an occasional treat, but otherwise it's a good can of raw/smoked almonds and honey roasted peanuts.

lol. Now I’ve never thought about eating the hull too.

growing up as a kid my grandpa grew peanuts for our personal use. Best I ever had are straight out of the ground.  We’d lay them up on a bank to dry for a day or two then separate them from the plant and bag them up. Us kids could eat all we wanted during this time.  “ green “ peanuts as we callled them.  Are an addicting taste.

eating the hulls reminds me of a story about this hick guy i knew growing  up.  Mind you this was foothills of the Appalachians.  Nowhere near the coast.  One weekend we had a fish fry and invited him over.  Big pot of shrimp and crab cooking too.  Someone asked him how he liked the shrimp he was eating ..... he replied “ crunchy.  Once you get past that they ain’t too bad “.    Took us a minute to figure out he wasn’t peeling them.
