15 clubs in the bag?

Honestly if it was increased to 15 I would add my Niblick chipper back in!

When I battled the chipping yips for a couple years I didnt realize how often I used it LOL.

Bad lie with rocks around? Chipper.

Tight lie chip with my "issues"? Chipper.

Rescue punch out? Chipper

Need to hit a low runner? Chipper.

I beat the tar out of that thing.

You beat me to it.  I was going to say that a 15 club limit would allow me to add a Square Strike to the bag without having to take anything out.

"You think we play the same stuff you do?"

NO NO NO....If anything the game from the pro level to am level needs to drop the number of clubs. Make people think, get creative, and not just take a full swing at everything like a machine because they have the club. I think it would solve a lot in the pro game in making guys think about their yardages and not just bomb everything. In the am game I guarantee it would drop scores for most as it just simplifies your thought process and over time you'd become a better ball striker. Also, it makes it easier to walk which is a win in my book.

Haha...yeah, I used to use my chipper for everything too...that thing was money, Lol! Getting rid of it made me start from scratch with my wedge game though and still trying to recover from not having it!

I would love to keep my 5 wood in the bag and be able to add a 2 iron, instead of swapping out.

I'd be up for 15. Right now I rotate between my 3-wood, 2-iron, and 3-iron. I like my 3-wood because I can attack more par 5's with it. I like my 2-iron because it's reliable off the tee for short par 4's, but I can't hit it reliably off the deck. The 3-iron is good for both the tee and off the deck, but it doesn't go as far as the other two.

So depending on what course I am playing, I have to decide which two of those three clubs I want to have in the bag. I wouldn't mind being able to keep all three.

I have the same type of thought, instead of deciding between one of two clubs I would like to keep them both in the bag.

YT-er Rick Shiels did a vlog playing with 20 clubs or so - didn't score better though it was a one off exercise.

I vote for fewer clubs - I dropped 9 strokes off my HC playing with 8 clubs last year: D, 3h, 5h, 7i, 9i, pw, 56o, P. I'd say 9 clubs max, carry bags. Just think of the advantages: more people walking - less obesity, fewer batteries to replace in carts, fewer clubs to make saving precious metals, reduced global warming!

9Max - make golf great again! 😉

Bag 1: 2h: Srixon ZX4h: TM M1 ('17) ; Irons: MD Golf 7i & 9i, Wedges: RTX full face 52o & 58o; Putter: Spalding Pro Flite

Bag 2: 3h: Nickent 3dx; 3i: Cobra One-Length utility; 7i: TM M4; 8/9i: Inesis 500; Wedges: AW: TM RSi (50o); Cleveland RTX full face 54o; RTX 588 60o; Putter: Ping

When I could still walk they didn't have push carts, which would have been great and why they didn't makes zero sense.  I have no doubt that the reason my back is in the shape it's in is too many rounds on hilly courses walking twisted while pulling a cart up and down those hills.  Truth is I wish I'd never walked a round in my life.

Please don't take any offense but walking golf courses is not the reason your back is in bad shape.

Walking is amazing exercise. I walk with guys in their mid eighties to low 90s at my course and it's 6800 yards and plenty up and down. I play 120 rounds a year of which 100 at least at walking, both carrying and pushing.

Because for us, that extra club isn't giving us a shot that we don't already have.  I don't need a SureOut to execute a flop shot, etc.

If you're contending there is no shot at all that a 64* PM wouldn't make easier than the 56* you carry, I don't believe you.  If you are playing "10 clubs" and you top out at a 56* there is no way you are set up to score optimally.

Now, you might have to not be an idiot and use it once a month, but its better than 10.

If you are setting up your bag for walking weight or some non-score consideration then this obviously doesn't apply.

14 is fine the way it is.  I find the 14 club limit perfect.  Makes you think a little in how to strategize your bag and gaps.  I could get by with 12.

I have 13, could put another wedge I guess (the old ping zing lob wedge) but there is never a shot where I wish I had a diff club.  Once in a blue moon I'm between my 3 hybrid 3W but not enough to make me want to add another club.

I mean I wouldn't be against it at all.  I'd probably put a 5w or hybrid in for the higher launching 230 shots, and then can still keep my 3i for tee shots and my 64* for the short sides.

I currently use the 3i and the 64*, so if I'm 230 on a par 5 where I have to hit it high and all carry, I usually just lay up (when there is trouble) or rip the 3i around the green and use the 64*.

Some good answers, some funny answers, and some good funny answers. Just the same, with the putter well that I permanently keep my putter in, I have an open slot in the bag. I would like to see it raised to 15 clubs. For you 10 clubs max people, you can still do your thing, it's not like adding another club option to everybody's bag is going to make it different for you, you can still do what you want to do.

Then easy answer, get a different bag!

There are plenty of golfers in my senior group that has 2 sets of bags on their private cart. From time to time I see some using clubs from both bags. Do I care? No......we're a bunch of geezers!

Knew a senior, who sadly can't play any more, who used to walk but when he took a cart had two bags - one set right handed, the other left handed and he played a round with each set at the same time.

14 is plenty. I enjoy the strategy behind figuring out which 14 make the cut.

Would be good for the equipment industry if you upped that number but would it be good for the game? At the average golfer level who cares how many clubs you use, but for pros, they don’t need more options than they already have

I have a bag like that, too.  Didn't even count the slots the first year I had the bag and carried 15 clubs.  Why would they make a bag with 15 slots?  Someone told me it was for the ball retriever.  Who knows.

I use the 15th slot for alignment sticks. Who the hell still has a ball retriever in their bag.
