That is correct.  Patrick and Rory did the very same thing.  Declared the ball imbedded after it bounced in the rough.  The one difference is that Reed consulted with a tour official, and Rory did not.  There are a lot of Patrick haters, but I don't think too many Rory haters.  That's basically the cause of this, notwithstanding Patrick's bad behavior earlier in a bunker.

 

You think others don't cheat.  Tom Watson marks his ball on the side, then replaces the ball from behind.  Did that his whole career.  Gary Player, in the rough, would make a big deal of pointing to the direction of the green, so everyone would look up there, while he pressed his foot right behind the ball.  Saw it several times in person.

 

The rest of you?  A foot wedge now and then.  Yeah, I would guess.

Reed with some incredible scrambling this week. Always gets out of tough spots. But really, he is playing well and he’ll win by more than one shot.

I “like” Reed as he brings some spice into things. He has got some sort of issue keeping doing little cheaty things.

I don’t think his playing partners were close by when he picked the ball up (ridiculous) and I think his partners failed to protect the field.

Reed played within the rules and had every reason to believe the ball was embedded because the spotter told him she didn't see the ball bounce. The only mistake Reed made was move the ball. He should have left the ball there until the rules official got there and made a ruling. Not sure what the spotter saw though, because obviously the ball did bounce from the video.

Funny, 95% of the posts in the last two days have been about Patrick Reed. Amazing how people are attracted to the dirt. PR wouldn't have gotten near the publicity even if he said he was donating his winnings to a viable charity, lol.
