When I purchased my Titleist AP3 irons  a few years ago I was coming out of the Taylormade PSI irons.

 

One of the main reasons that I wanted to ditch the PSI irons was the black Taylormade badge on the back of the club.  The badge over time would lift out and the ends were pointy and sharp.  More than a few times I reached for a club and got stabbed.  Made me feel like I had a bunch of snakes in the bag trying to bite me.  That and about one out of every 8th shot with the Taylormade PSI irons would be a weird flyer that would go 10-15 yards long and usually sail over the green into junk.

 

When I was being fitted for the AP3 irons, I had it narrowed down to them, Callaway Apex and Mizuno MMC irons.

 

The AP3s were the best performing and in my opinion also the best looking and feeling.  I especially liked the clean looking back of the club.  

 

The T200 irons that replaced them in their iron line were really a step backwards in regards to the “clean back look”.  It seems like Titleist was late to the party and overplayed the “visible tech” card with the T-series irons just as the market switched away from it towards the “forgiving club that looks like a muscle back”.   Many of the competitors are now making clubs that look more like the 718 TMB and CNCPT irons than Titleist.

 

One reason I’ve not replaced my AP3 irons despite having over 500 rounds on them and being a bit dinged up is that I don’t like the way their new clubs look.  I’m also ready to get off of the strong lofted iron train and get back to something with more traditional loft.

I can tell you with 100% certainty that this is inaccurate information specifically for Titleist.

I have never changed irons based on looks... but those T100's look amazing. If the performance is even infinitesimally better my much loved T100's, then... yes. Yes yes yes. And if they do a U505 1 iron, then yes again 😄

So correct, the T200 is stunning.  I currently have a Combo of T200 and T100s in Black.   They may give way to these!  Even if I don't wait for the black.

Is this two different finishes?  Chrome, w/ a brushed back?  Would look WAY better all chrome or all brushed.

I don't see the insert in the rear of the T100 cavity like the T100S. My guess is the T100 will still have tungsten while the T100S will have some sort of elastomer.

I wonder if it’s a forgiveness feature in the T100S or a necessity based on loft/design that’s not needed in the T100.

My guess is that one is aimed at distance and the other is for the purist. The T100 and T100S were too close IMO so they need to differentiate.
