What’s going on with English?

I only found out recently that I wasn’t supposed to text in complete sentences/words.  I was truly shocked.  Had no idea. Apparently I only text other “ old “ people , because I’ve never got back any shorthand , not once.

Not only do I text in full sentences (with proper punctuation - or so I think), I also use only my right index finger.  I fear I'm going extinct.

Lol.  Me too sometimes. But I have adapted two thumbs or even sometime two index fingers.   For speed of course.

When I try to use the two thumbs method, what results is an unknown language.  Between using one finger and squinting to see what I'm writing, I'm surprised I haven't gone viral.

Conversation being replaced via texting or other measures on cell/smart phones is old news. Talking on phones has been replaced via other communication for some time. It's not new by any measure except for those not paying attention. It sucks but it's truth and part of life these days. It's not going back. It's adapt to it or be left behind.

The actual “phone” function is probably the worst performing app on my phone in terms of reliability. Without getting all tinfoil hatty  - the providers much prefer we communicate via text so they can more easily target us to advertisers. It’s no coincidence the actual talk on the phone function is terrible on our phones.

I hate reading texts with words chopped up into whatever lazy language people like to use these days. I refuse to participate in that.
