Setting up for a great day tomorrow. Matsuyama is going to be tough to beat. I think he feels pretty comfy on this course. Love watching XS swing. One of my favorite swings to watch. If he ever learns to win...

I personally find it very refreshing to see very few manufacturers logos on bags, shirts, hats, etc...the team uniforms are bland but its a nice change..

 

anybody's Gold medal to win, going to pull for the homeboy, which would put him in even higher legendary status in Japan...I think Rory make a runabout breaks our hearts in the end...XS got away with it today, will have to be flawless tomorrow

 I usually just want to see the best guy that week win- but since Rory isn't all that excited to be there, I prefer it is NOT him

Obviously I am pulling for Connors Or Hughes to go low and take home the gold. But, I don't even remember which Canadian played in Brazil. So, whoever wins wins. Hope it's filled with drama and all of my WRX friends have a great Saturday evening, Sunday morning...

Again, it's all so purple.  I really haven't warmed up to the golf course, the camera setup has been less than ideal if not sterile, IMO (I like that one on the wires that I assume the Japanese put in as a special Reed cam to keep an eye on him, lol), I'm not sensing the "HD" in the endless faraway shots of players hitting shots I'd normally think I'm seeing, the lack of fans is understandable but really taking away from what would be a cool environment with Hideki up there.

 

But, it's a horse race and I've enjoyed watching and at least Paul Casey has embraced it and is all in - hope he medals.

It’s gonna be a great showdown! I’m quite enjoying the Men’s Golf experience. 
 

After the first day, I literally thought the winning score will be -25. LOL. My feeling is -17 or -18 will win the thing outright. 
 

Hopefully, USA will medal. I thought USA would get 2 medals based on the world ranking. Then, they started playing golf. 
 

If Xander can deny the golf from Hideki, what a follow-up story from the Masters.

So anybody know the real scoop on the playoff.  On the broadcast last night they said there will be a playoff for each medal if needed.  So if Hideki and Xander finish tied for 1st they have a playoff, winner gets gold so let’s say it’s Xander, does that mean Hideki gets nothing.

Where does the obsession with team events come from?
Most Olympic events are individual events, at least in individual sports, in which category golf falls without a doubt.
And most of the recently invented team events in individual sports are just plain stupid and serve mainly the purpose of inflating the medal count for the bigger countries.

Agree that’s how it should work, but the way they made it sound, Isn’t that way.  Then again Azinger probably thinks he is actually in Japan.  So lets say you have 4 guys tied for the lead, go to a playoff, 2 guys birdie the first hole, 2 guys par. So the 2 with birdie go to another hole(s) and gold and silver are determined.  The others have to continue a playoff for bronze?  That would suck for the guy who finishes 72 holes tied for lead and leave with nothing.  At least in a normal tournament you would get a check.
