Cobra 2022 Plans

Anyone have any experience with cobra's custom iron lead time in relation to what they have "available" in the drop down options?  If I go to the current Forged Tec Iron custom build, lots of shafts to choose from, but some grips are not selectable...which I presume means they are out of stock?

 

But does that mean everything that can be selected from drop down is in stock and just takes the normal lead time to assemble and ship?  Or do you fall into the same trap I presume all manufacturers have where you can select items for a custom build but you really have no idea if that component is in stock or when it might come in if it isn't in stock?

 

I ordered SpeedZone fairway woods directly from Cobra early in 2021 when they became discounted.  Pretty much shipped right away and at my door in less than a week but they weren't custom.

I can't answer this question with any certainty, but I have placed several custom orders with Cobra during the pandemic for items that were listed as available in their drop-down options. They all shipped quickly -- as in, within a few days. 

 

I've found Callaway and Cobra to be the quickest by far during the pandemic.

Seconded on Callaway. Had a set of Apex irons custom ordered on December 12 and they were in my hands December 20.

 

I almost bought a set of Forged Tec irons in November and my pro said when he talked to the Cobra rep, he acted like they'd be in my hands pretty quickly too.

 

That's no offense to any of the other OEMs. I know there's a LOT going on right now with supply chain issues and just overall quantities being ordered, but I'll agree with you on these two being quick.

Of Cobra, W/S, and TM, my experience is that Cobra is on top of their game on custom orders. When I’ve custom ordered, I always go through the local 9 hole course! No complaints whatsoever from me! It should say “out of stock” when selecting items, although not so sure on the grips. They’re usually in vague description instead of bold lettering.

For what it’s worth, Mike at TXG has had very complimentary things to say about the forthcoming Cobra driver — both on his Instagram Q&As and in his podcast with @RyanBarathWRX. He hasn’t offered many details since it’s still under embargo until January 19 but he has a pretty sharp sense of what’s worth paying attention to.

I really liked the Speedzone I had two seasons ago! Looking forward to giving this new one a shot. If it's anything like the Speedzone but with better sound and feel, I'm in!

For what it's worth, my fitter said they should have the new drivers for sale on Monday the 17th and their fitting-cart components available for fittings on (I think he said) the 21st, Friday.

No Doubt- I don't like taking a 9* and opening it up. I want a squared up 7.5*- possible for righties but you KNOW highly doubt in LH.

 

I like Cobra drivers- I beat the brakes, tires, tee boxes and everything else with a L4v- it was LOUD as all hellz but I liked it.

Fairly pedestrian reviews of Stealth and Rogue so far (at least that I’ve come across…). 
 

The Radspeed is great.   Here’s to hoping that the ‘22 lives up to the LTD moniker.

The embargo dates have been generally Dec but release has always been in Jan/Feb, and if you have the embargo too early, especially months before the actually release or preorder date, you can lose hype before launch. TXG mentioned embargo in Jan 19, 2022.

Exactly!  Not sure why they decided to move the embargo date to January this year?  You would think they would want a head start on the big boys.

The two explanations in my mind are 1) the prevalence of newsfeeds in chronological order and 2) less wait time between press release and product release. Just by having the Cobra embargo date later than TM and Cally, LTDx will enjoy being "on top" of Stealth and Rogue ST in most digital news feeds. At the same time, people want to go look at and hit the new club they are reading about. Makes no sense to have a press release a month before a product release.

Whatever Cobra comes out with it will be a bomber as I have always felt they make some of the nicest drivers for a cheaper price tag. How do they do it?
