Anyone Have An Idea of What TM’s Driver Plans Are for 2022?

Hi all. I'm not a big poster but love to read, and have been watching this since November. Heck of a topic here all. Great job by TM.

My question is, I prefer to have my driver's at 45-45¼". Does TaylorMade adjust the swingweight automatically thru custom order?

Looking to order Stealth, 10.5, HZRDUS RED 5.5-.50"

I've appreciated Cobra doing that with their Tour Length. I'm more of a set it and forget it type.

Love that TaylorMade is chiming in this post. It really is cool to see they care about what we read and post. It's a selling feature for me to be honest.

Tag them and they'll respond, often.

Just do the @ followed by taylormade golf (with the space) like this...

Yes. That’s the role of the back weight to adjust head weight to optimize swing weight.

Lol. I'm 2 in. And am 90% sure I'm buying a tour issue sim2 max fwy soon. Not a purchase from TM, but they haven't taken me up on my offer to give them design credit on a ti model fwy that's 16 degrees std.

Found a tour issue head that meets all of my specs perfectly...

57.5-58 lie

15.5-16 loft

.5-1.5 open face

I struggle with it also in the stock form. I got lucky with a sim2 5 wood stock that’s been working and then I ordered a stealth+ 3 wood in hopes it’ll work but have my eye on a few TI heads.

Same here. Pre-ordered a Stealth @ 45" and was hoping TM would adjust the SW - there didn't appear to be a place anywhere in the custom order process to speciify or request a SW.  Thanks!

Okay…so I hit the stealth for the first time today. Took about 10 swings at my local shop and am walking away extremely impressed. Hit in the stock 60x Kai’li with 8* head. Shaft to me was like a wet noodle coming from my Ventus Black 7-TX, but I think almost everything else would. Beyond excited now for my fitting on the 7th at the Kingdom. Here is a quick snap of the last ball I hit.

I went in to check out the Stealth today, and as a mid handicapper with a very average swing speed, I could not get it to go anywhere near what my Cobra Radspeed was doing. I hit current and new driver back to back and we tried the Stealth in all head combos and several different shafts, as well as set it up with the same setup I was fitted into the Cobra with. Constantly 10-15 yards shorter with the Stealth. It did feel good, but the sound was not there for me, and it just didn’t inspire confidence. Also, I noticed in the fitting that one of the heads already had paint chipped off of the metal strip between the face and the carbon top. Seemed easy enough to hit that area if tee’d up too high. Hopefully they aren’t using the same paint as their putters.

Tried the New rogue while I was there too. Have to say, walking in I had no intent on even looking at it, but it beat my cobra by 5 yards and the looks, quality, feel, and sound all impressed me more than I thought from what I had seen online. As someone who is brand agnostic, it would be my choice between the two if I upgrade.

Any indication where the numbers were coming from? Swing speed/ball speed/smash factor/launch or?

I have the same shaft on the way. It measures 45” from grip end to adapter tip. I need to get it trimmed down some. What length is your shaft? Should I trim in the butt end?

I play my Sim2 at 45” so shaft is 44” tip to end of grip. I have mine tipped 1/2”.

Every oem has good product with strengths and weaknesses. I think the new cally has reached ping level of forgiveness. But no doubt its not as long as the stealth is capable of, if properly fit. As mentioned I would like to have seen some data from your experience.

The new Callaways would be in consideration for me if they weren't draw biased. I spent a lot of time measuring CofGs of drivers this weekend and the huge, heavy adapter for Callaway and Titleist just add too much weight in the wrong spot.

Yeah this definitely feels like what many of us have observed over the years and was a big part of why Matt at TXG seemed to always produce numbers that looked a *little* juiced. Not intentionally of course, but he was a very low spin guy and GCQuad gave him a boost because of that.

Preposterous as in low or high? Taylormade have long advertised 56*-60* as stock but either i'm missing something or there has virtually never been a driver released that was actually anywhere near 56* stock. Every single tour issued head I have ever seen both in person and online has ranged from 58*-60*, so 59* sounds perfectly normal. And if there were any heads that we'd see on the flatter side, it would be the tour issued ones.

Ok , thanks ......I thought high and yes I've seen tour heads higher....but I was going by the 56-60* advertisement.

I really do wonder if that is just outdated at this point. I have only ever seen anything close to 56* on tour issued bonded "Max" fairway wood heads, and even that is very rare. A few eBay stores have drop down specs for multiple driver heads and the lie angles always look like this:

129748929_ScreenShot2022-01-17at4_51_36PM.png.07dd61e0fa961ef3fd2043e23824f57d.png

600691892_ScreenShot2022-01-17at4_52_17PM.png.bddfd72ee5cf3a0708df430f8ca8333d.png

I'm sure you could make the argument that these are the "unused" stock that would potentially be undesirable, but I don't necessarily believe that, and even then you'd still see a 56* or 57* slip through occasionally and I never have. Even 58* is extremely rare.

Never said heads and tails above other new drivers. I said against the st max. Always a give and take. More forgiveness/less potential max distance…and vice versa. TM always seems to target long hitting market, high speeds, low spin. Their “max” isnt even on the high end of moi compared to others. I do think this years stealth is the most stable offering of any TM i can remember.

Gotcha. Sorry, I took the OP as saying the Rogue lineup in general, and not the max, though looking back perhaps that's what he meant. I've been a Callaway wood guy since the Epic Subzero and am excited to hit the Stealth. Where might one find 2022 MOI charts or something else that helps measure forgiveness?
