Actually Davis Love did....6 years earlier. When asked later about how he dreamed up that shot, he mentioned seeing Davis make it from there...only Davis was a little deeper back there.

Yeah - Tiger's just a yawn. Stick with that. How many majors did Davis win? How many PGA tourneys? What were the size of his crowds? How many miraculous shots did he hit?

You know it’s funny.  There has been a lot, make that A LOT,  of revisionist history in golf since Tiger came along.  By the late 80’s to early 90’s the conventional thinking was that there were just too many great players on tour for any player to dominate the way Jack did.  So we still ague about it today but even then it was an acknowledgment that the 50’s 60’s 70’s had some nice players but nowhere near the sheer volume of top notch players that were on tour by the 90’s. And today we acknowledge that there are even more today than there were then. 
  Like you I watched a lot of golf starting in the late 60’s.  And for the media of the time Jack got a big portion of the attention….and justifiably so.  Then Tiger came along and was the Pied Piper.  EVERYONE was amazed at the level of golf he played.  Everyone.  It seemed like a weekly occurrence where Feherty or McCord would giggle with glee over a shot Tiger would hit….and hit successfully.  No one else had ever showed his consistency.  
No one, not even Seve, had shown an imagination on the course like Tiger to hit miracle shots…along with the ability to just grind the others to dust with a mind numbing greatness.  There was seemingly no part of the game that any player was better than he was.  Before the new equipment he even talked about becoming straighter than Fred Funk.

 

 

And today we have guys posting with annoyance over Tiger’s comeback coverage?

I hope he plays and plays well. But just saw footage of him walking up the 9th green, and he has a noticeable hitch in his step. It didn't look comfortable. Maybe it's just how he is now, and it feels normal. But to me, it looked like four days of that would take an incredible toll.

TW is going to play and he's going to contend. He has a reasonable shot of winning the event. But let's get one thing straight. The story of the week is going to be WOW, TW is so amazing, who would have thought he could return against all odds after he was left for dead, nobody could have predicted this!!

 

Well it was entirely predictable, because as long as TW has a pulse he's going to be making the haterz eat crow. Haterz have been sitting on the couch for the last 400 days, what has TW been doing for the last 400 days? He's been getting ready for Thursday for the last 400 days. So when he plays, makes the cut, maybe even WINS, it won't be a miracle. It will be just another day in the life of TW, the guy who does NOTHING but win because he outplays, outsmarts, outworks everyone else in the field.

 

TW is a testament to the greatness of humanity and the strength of the human will. I hope you haterz have a miserable time watching TW inspire the world for the next week, maybe it will inspire you to stop hating, get off the couch, and stop eating Cheetos. That would be the true miracle.

Yes he does. It’s quite noticeable. As Hawk said earlier, his gate has noticeably changed. But like you said, could just be his new normal and it could very well be pain free. Like you, I definitely hope he plays and plays well. That said, I hear he’s striking it really well! 😊🤣
