Maltby 2022

Does anyone have insight on Maltby's 2022 plans?  Are they releasing any new irons?  I currently play the TS2, and would love to see a mid size iron (like the TS2) with a touch less offset.

Here you go from RalphMaltby.com forum:

We have three new models in the works. One will be a new KE4 Ultra Game Improvement iron with weight the external weight for adjustment. Another we have will be progressive cavity forging with tungsten weighting and it will be our TS3 model. I would call it a players cavity with Super Game Improvement playability. Both of these should be available in spring of 2022, but lead times are really hard to predict right now. We have a new muscle back blade that tentatively will be the TS4 and will be a players blade profile and will have high playability as well. Not replacing the TS1, but will be in that same “blade” category. It’s more of a replacement for our MMB-17, but still fits in the TS line-up. It might be summer of of 2022, but I am pushing for spring. It is a little further behind in the development.

Excited about all three for sure……..

Britt Lindsey

Being that the TS3 is a cavity back iron, I wonder if these are a direct replacement for the KE4 Tour.  I like the less offset of KE4-T.   The offset in my TS2's are just a bit too much.   Turn the KE4 Tour into a forged iron, with the same offset, and they will have a real winner!!  IMO

Maltby always does best when they go minimal on the graphics so I like what I'm seeing here and in the above pictures.  Is this KE4max pic taken from the USGA site where all photos are b/w?

I don't think the first image is b/w (the chrome has a slight blue tint) ... below is a version that's been updated to b/w:

Been hoping to see KE4. She's gonna be a biggun. However the TS3 looks amazing. No wonder they ended the PTM so quickly. C'mon, @Popeye64please prod the boys at Maltby to release these jobbers already. Oh, and a decent mid/high bounce wedge won't kill anyone.

Haha.. I wish I had that kind of pull with Britt. The M Series + wedge replacement should be getting released any day now.

It's gonna be a tough wait for the TS3 release. I'm hoping it has all the characteristics of the PTM. I'm still shocked that PTM head got pulled. It was by far my best seller. Even when players demoed all else. The run a way TS-1 TS-2 sales just killed it.

And while we're at it @Popeye64, tell them to stop stamping the MPF number on the hosels.  Literally no one cares.

I hope the final products look like that with no colors on the Maltby badge. I've been painting over the badges on my TS1 because I like a cleaner look.

That TS4 looks amazing.

Ralph spent a lot of time setting the industry standards for playability.  At 1 time the OEM manufacturers paid a lot of attention to that list. It's kind of their thing.

Looks like the TS4 has a milled sole similar to Taylormade.  Curious what the specs will look like on these.

Had a chance to see KE Max. Rounded toe soft but thick topline, really cambered sole so it checks all the boxes as an SGI but they really managed to hide the bulk and especially the offset as the transition from hostel to face/topline is really good. It's nowhere near as big as I figured it would be. Hell, I'd game em.

Maltby has a sneak peek of the TS3 and TS4 on their forum site:

You can totally see what they're trying to achieve, even with the TS4 as the weight pad moves upward as it nears the toe and the 4's hosel looks a few mm shorter than the 3. I'm so ready for these jobbers.

Love the TS4s - very clean & elegant. Hope the badging remains understated. Is that milling on the sole?

Remind me of the Ping i59s-esque but without the price tag.

Well done Maltby 👍

Are these .370 hosels? I don’t really understand the whole Maltby thing. Like, what’s the goal? The most forgiving clubs in each head category and also charging 30% the price of everyone else?

Maltby iron/wedge heads usually accept .355" and .370" shafts.  But I have found personally that I need to use collared ferrules to keep the shaft aligned if I use .355" shafts.

  • Universal hosel accepts both .370" parallel tip and .355" taper tip iron shafts.

I'm really interested to see what the construction and tech specs of the TS4 will be. I asked the question on the Maltby forum and am hoping that Britt or one of the others will share.

Will it be a hollow design filled with stuff? Or a solid piece with tungsten placement weighting?

Will the profile be a legit compact player's blade or will it be a longer and more forgiving profile like Maltby is more noted for?

So man questions!!!

My understanding from folks "in the know" is that the TS4 will be a one piece forging.  Not sure about tungsten weighting.
