Pro shop credit…

Just shy of $1000, must spend by 12/31.

 

1 year old irons, w/a new set standing by.

 

RTX Zipcore wedges that are easily good for at least another year.

 

1year old FW & Hy from last years credit.

 

2 year old Driver, no complaints. New PXG Gen4 to slide into bag if I get antsy.

 

More dang putters than I care to admit (although most are collector/non-gamer)

 

What would you spend it on?

Clothes, balls, or Christmas gifts of clubs if you have friends/family that are golfers

A good Gore-Tex jacket and a few dozen balls at full retail and you're all set.

I have theory that a good portion of the BST is guys using up their shop credit. A couple Scott’s could turn $1000 in credit into $600 real dollars.

Load up on golf balls, and gloves. Maybe an extra pair of shoes? Belts? Hats? New golf bag? That's probably what I'd spend it on if I was in your situation

I’ve sold my credit to other league golfers at a discount. Technically I took a loss, but I still got some folding money I could use elsewhere because there wasn’t anything golf related I needed.

 

I also bought and then sold a Scotty Studio one year.

Option #1 - Sell it to someone else and take the cash. Maybe offer them the $1k for $750??

 

OR

 

Option #2 - Get a high quality rain suit, and if there is any leftover grab some shoes, gloves, or balls.

 

Keep in mind just because the club doesn't physically have something in the pro shop doesn't mean they can't order it. Aside from balls or gloves I honestly don't think anything I've ever purchased with my shop credit was actually in the pro shop. Everything I've bought has been ordered through the head pro.

I would work out a deal between the pro shop and the local Big Brothers Big Sisters club to allow some lessons and and 9 hole outings for some kids.  Maybe offer to help organize and and coach.

I was in the same situation but our credits needed to be cashed in by October 31st. I bought a Gore-Tex rain jacket, two pair of golf shoes, and a couple of golf gloves.

I think you're 100 percent right. 

 

If it was me it would be balls and clothes too. But not just more logo shirts; I'd have the pro pull out the FootJoy catalog and I'd load up on dress pants and socks. The boring stuff I hate spending "real" money on.

Its a fairly small shop, so not much to choose from, and what’s there is logo hell.  Think I’ll look into the special order idea.

Be careful about grips. If you are going to store them for a long time, seal them in a big zip lock bag as they will degrade
