Will Rickie Fowler ever make a cut on the PGA Tour again?

Everyone goes through slumps. Rickie has a good team around him. If his motivation and drive doesn't change, I believe he'll work himself out of it

Fowler's slump has been 3+ years. His short game (including putting) gets worse every tournament. Two of the best parts of his game.

Good gravy he's 33 years old, has made over $40,000,000 playing golf, and his first born isn't even a year old yet.   Give the guy a little slack.

He’ll always be a Golf Boy.

Fair to say this at 3 years you no longer call it a slump, it's who you are. Talented golfers falling off the map for no reason happens to guys more often than you think and to guys more talented than Fowler.

Interesting you referenced the golf boys because his trajectory is not dramatically different from fellow OSU alum Mahan who was highly ranked national team qualifier and faded quickly.

Personally I don’t call top 150 in the world “falling off the map”.  He would be a good catch for LIV for name recognition but if they don’t offer enough cash I would think he’ll stay.  Guessing he’s making minimum $5m annually-likely closer to $8-10m from endorsements so why go for $25-50m?

Poor guy ... we should all be grieving for this poor man and the depths he has fallen to.

And don't forget his hideous wife.

Agree completely. Such crazy expectations. His results from this year alone have him currently qualified for the playoffs. Looking down the standings, there are a lot of players, including major winners, that would love to find his part of the map!  😄

Still a fan of the guy, and would love to see him play better, would be a shame for him to not claim a major. I recall early in 2020, when the tour was shut down, there was a televised round with a couple guys, Rickie being one. And he was hitting it past everyone, the talk was about how he added distance. Maybe thats the problem? Got too focused on that?

Interesting he is in the field for Rocket Mortgage. I think he still has the chance to regain form. He has the natural ability and we have seen several top tier players loose their game for stretches. Spieth for a while, Jason Day and more.

Personally I believe it is more of the desire to want to get back to that level. Of course there will be the competitive drive, but there must also be a point to where the grind is too much.

Why so? He hasn't declared for the LIV tour. He's a Rocket Mortgage endorser and unless he decides to the leave the PGA Tour for the LIV tour he is exempt on the PGA Tour through the 2022-2023 season.

More the LIV connection that had been previously made. Obviously they can be put to rest for the time being, but all the speculation had him on his way there which would have meant he couldn't participate. Hence why I found it interesting.

Endorsement money gets less the further down the rankings you go. Some companies might cut ties, some might offer less Rickie has lost alot of leverage

That would be more true for future endorsers than current.  He has lost leverage but that does not mean he has necessarily lost current endorsements or income over relatively poor play.

The endorsement gig is a lot more than TV ads.  His apparent ability to play the meet and greet game for the company becomes a greater benefit than the liability of poor play.

I'm glad everyone knows the details of Big Dink Rick's endorsements and finances.

I certainly don’t….that’s why I said “not necessarily “. It was a guess.  Considering how often we see him in commercials I’m guessing he has a marketable personality.

Always hope good things for Ricky. He used to be deadly with his putter and around the greens. Always stayed in his swimlane when it came to distance off the tee and not trying to muscle anything. Wouldn't be surprised if he found his way to LIV but, I hope we goes back to his swing and not try to make any changes.

the meet and greet at 140 compared to top ten ranking? your argument has so many holes in it, I rather get a massage from my dad than waste another minute in this useless spider web
