Exactly.  If I’m Reed. The last thing on earth I’d do is sue someone based on my character.  For Pete’s sake. Chamblee will get to repeat it all in court through his attorney. Then after he wins he can say it some more as a recap on his show. Reed is asking for it.

He signed the lawsuit in his capacity as an attorney, with the intent on appearing "Pro Hac Vice". Meaning he's not admitted to practice in Texas, but he wants to be admitted on a temporary and limited basis to participate in this lawsuit as Reed's attorney. He needs to have an attorney licensed in Texas participating in the lawsuit. That he's intending on filing papers to be admitted Pro Hac Vice means that he feels he is currently licensed to practice law somewhere.

 

Each state/jurisdiction has its own bar. You can be suspended from practice in Pennsylvania but still admitted to practice in North Carolina. You can be suspended from practicing in one jurisdiction on a temporary basis, only to have you license to practice in that jurisdiction reinstated if you meet some qualifications (attend CLEs, etc.) I don't have the time or energy to figure out if Klayman is admitted to practice in one of our many many jurisdictions.

The rules for libel / slander are very clear and sports media does not get a free pass just because they are trying to deliver hot takes. I look forward to seeing this resolved in an impartial court of law.
