Worst swing on Tour

Scheffler's footwork is all a bit Bambi on ice, but his fundamentals are pretty sound, and he delivers the club consistently, as borne out by his stats. I agree with you though, that it's not nice to watch from an aesthetic point of view.

Then again, I always loved watching Mark Calcavecchia back in the day, and his swing's not dissimilar. A violent, bludgeoning slog at the ball, with a similarly eccentric bit of footwork. There's no accounting for taste I suppose.

...with the driver Scheffler has always reminded me of a younger G. Norman's violent "foot slide" move.

Matt Wolff gets my vote. It’s a sight to behold but I can’t consider it good.

He isn't on a tour though, only plays exhibition events 🤣

On a somewhat related note, how do people feel about lefty swings? For some reason, every lefty I've seen in real life seems to have a very smooth and pleasant swing to watch, and yet I don't find myself particularly attracted to any professional lefty's swing.  Guys like Axley, Lebioda, Bubba, even Akshay to a certain extent I don't find particularly aesthetic.

This is true and I've always thought the same thing, however it is because we aren't used to viewing a swing from that side. If you were to flip them, they do not look as smooth and pleasant.

Webb Simpson is one of my least favorite swings on tour.  The follow through is hard to describe.  Armsie?

Unpleasant to watch and the guy has the best hands on the tour to square it every time.

Speaking as a left handed golfer I mostly agree. FWIW I can't stand to watch any LH golfer. LH golf swings to me just don't seem or even look natural. Unlike how great LH baseball players swings can look.

The first time I saw my swing on video I was shocked how poor it looked. My brother who plays right handed hits my clubs from time to time and his swing looks much better than mine.

For whatever reason, Shaun Micheel has the worst swing to my eye. In my defense, his swing mechanics single handedly disrupted Phil Mickelson’s dominate play in the early portion of the 2003 PGA Championship to take him down. I hate that I hate his swing because I hear through friends that he’s a really great guy. He’s won more majors than I ever will.

Our kids played soccer against each other years ago and I got to talk golf with him for a while. I can confirm he is a super nice guy. He was very approachable and down to earth.

You quoted bazzle18 but edited it to attribute it to me. I never said what you quoted. I said the opposite. Your misinformation aside Cochran's swing isn't pretty looking. Especially that sawed off finish.

Allen Doyle.  I think him and Mr Barlow must be related.

I always thought Doyle had a great swing.  A model of accuracy and consistency.

Golf is about hit the fairway, hit the green, two putts, lather rinse repeat.

It's not about hitting the longest drive in the group on a given day, or the shortest club into a par 3, especially when the rest of the day is a collection of whiffs, tops and shots into the backyards of the course's neighbors.

If more new players adopted Doyle's approach, they'd develop into good players much more quickly, instead of sentencing themselves to being lifelong hacks.

I'm not trying to insult the man. It was just unconventional, home-spun, etc.. Obviously it worked for him.

Johnny Miller made the comment on a telecast, that if Ben Hogan had seen it...he'd puke.

I feel like this is me at the top.. not sure. I play pretty decent though so whatever i guess. Kinda gave up trying to find the secrets of a pro golfer swing.. once i started swinging my swing im more consistent and play wayy better. Once you grove your own path to good golf i guess it dont matter unless your trying to be on tour lol

Except we’re talking about tour golf.  So your idea of fairway green 2 putts rinse and repeat will get you mostly MC’s.
