Nice job Bryson gets the win!

"Shirtsleeve" swing technique:

1. Setup: Elbows bent forearms pressed together against shaft slightly forward of center with "Hogan" "active/flexed" leg tension left foot turned out slightly and the right leg slightly farther to the right - weight mostly on balls of feet butt of left hands sits on the top of the grip with very light grip.

2. Swing - W/o disturbing weight distribution of legs and feet lower hands while doing a forward press "swing trigger" then the left upper arm takes over on the backswing, it needs to go out in front of the body then back in front of the chest as the hands trace down initially then up to over the right shoulder "Torres". The goal is to not disturb the pressure of the feet during the initial takeaway.

Notes:

1. Only swing thought after swing trigger - extend left arm at shirt sleeve when reaching left hand over right shoulder "Shirtsleeve technique".

2. The upper left arm move "Shirtsleeve technique" can be practiced independently without a club, sitting down for instance

3. The correct feet tension can be felt by doing very short hops on the balls of the feet then holding the same feeling of pressure on the front of the feet and then taking three practice swings with the grip very loose in order to not disturb the same pressure on the feet and on the 3rd swing actively do the "Shirtsleeve" move. From there the swing should be done within a matter of seconds to not lose the feel of the legs resisting, this way this is not a learned technique as much as it is a setup technique.

ive always been a fan, watched him a couple of times over here. I hope he does have longevity and can sort his wedge game out, because he is ‘moving the needle’ right now. You are going to see a lot of guys copying elements of his game and a lot of coaches taking his swing seriously IMO. I’m not exaggerating when I say he could be the biggest thing to happen to golf post Tiger.

btw, I noticed he really doesn’t hit a huge amount of balls when practising, and that could be very smart in limiting wear and tear.

What Bryson has done is impressive. But there is no way his body is going to stand up to swinging like that with his driver. That's too much strain on almost every part of his body.

I know that through the years, many PGA players have started training programs to help them gain distance. Most of these programs produced little to no gains. BD has done something remarkable, and SO many people are critical of him for it. He has done nothing but play great golf since coming back (T3, T8, T6, 1 against very strong fields) and has won over $2.1 in that stretch. His win came while playing his 4th week in a row. What he's done is very very impressive IMO. It just goes to show that if you are going to try something different, people are going to come out of the woodwork to criticize you. I don't particularly like the guy, and he can be kind of a DB, but he is definitely getting it done.

Very impressive. It's all very well saying BcD made putts and Wolff didn't but strokes gained proves by having 100 yards or less to the hole, you're going to be closer and thus the % of making putts increases.

He's found an advantage and using it. He's taken the time, made the effort and similar to TW when he first came on the scene, the psychological advantage for him could be huge. Consistently being 50-90 yards longer on your playing partners/field is going to mess with people's minds. Bryson's wedges are sharp, easy to capitalise on.

I love it because he's made a mockery of the equipment argument. It's early days but he's physically transformed himself. He's still be hitting a balata and wooden driver further than anyone else. So funny.

The true tests will be at Harding Park, Winged Foot, & Augusta. Rough will be up at Harding and Winged Foot and fairways tighter. Short game key at all 3 and his needs work.

That's because Wolff is another long hitter and according to CBS he only out drove Wolff by something like 140 yards on Sunday. He out drove his playing partner Troy Merritt by over 400 yards. And Merritt had several drives over 320 yards.

And yes, as always, if your missing 4-6 footers on Sunday, you probably aren't winning anything.

BD set a 16 year record (covering the shotlink era, could be even longer) by leading the field in both SG off the tee and SG putting. Like 6.7 SG off the tee and 7.8 SG putting cumulatively. He gained 2.62 putting on Sunday alone.

And he won by just 3 strokes. Wolff shot a gruesome 38 going out, this should have been much closer.

So, what do we deduce?

His approach/wedge game ain’t great or he should pulled off a Tiger style blowout of 15 shots.

If his wedge game does not improve, he sure won’t putt like that every week, and he wont be as successful against deeper fields and more challenging set ups.

If he does improve his wedge game, he’s going to go on a serious tear and beat the tar out of fields this year ; )

That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard from NLU..... BD doesn’t even like golf? Really? They really think that?

When BD turned pro and started getting sponsors he also started having responsibilities to those sponsors (outings, corporate events, dinners..). He said the worst thing about being a professional was that he has less time to practice golf. That doesn’t sound like someone who hates the game.

Is he doing that Moe swing type of weird putting stance where his arms are totally straight? It was a good shootout with Wolff.

I just hope he does not hurt his health. It is something a little new and different. As far as too much distance - may the rough grass higher, trim trees less or plant some more trees.

I wonder how long his new swing will hold up. I mean, he can't swing like that for long, can he? It must be putting a lot of stress on his back. No ill will towards him. Just wondering if it is sustainable. He's young but one day he'll be where Phil is.
