Kirkland Signature (Costco) golf balls (MERGED) (NO BST POSTS)

Costco has a 90 day return policy. Why return your golf balls so soon? I personally want to give this time to play out. If they get enough bad press online(websites), and or to their customer service center, they may decide to let us keep these first shipments in good faith and refund us our money. I've had other instances where companies have done that....just a thought.

Yeah I will probably hang on to them for a bit. I did leave a review on their site. Hopefully they're becoming aware of the issue.

It's a lifetime guarantee, it's only 90 days on certain electronic stuff like tv's, computers, phones, etc. They're the best.

To those that are unhappy with the quality/durability of this new gen ball, I would strongly encourage them to take a few minutes and visit Costco's website for this ball and leave your negative review(could take up to 72 hours for it to post online). I do believe strongly that we have strength in numbers. That coupled with a few negative website reviews may get Costco's attention to do the right thing to right the ship. You know one thing we can all agree on is if Costco can get this ball right, at that price, it would be a game changer in the industry, at least for those who aren't brand loyal. The original ball was proof of that. Imagine if that original ball, as good as it was, was stocked in stores at all times. I do believe it would had put a dent in the overpriced other big name brand balls. With a putter and wedges soon to come, I think Costco is in it to win it. They just need to correct this new ball first....thoughts?

I’m sure they not only know about the issues, but I have a feeling the visit this very thread. No proof but just a feeling. Besides, I think someone said they took the ball down from the website.

Edit: I stand corrected. They’re still up

Really? They were gone last night. I wanted to read reviews and got denied. I think I'll see what others are saying now.

Edit: They are, indeed, back up and people are complaining about the cover.

And some of the 5 star reviews are from people that have not even played the new ball. Go figure. Case in point. Sounds like a Costco apologist from WRX left this review.

I think his was the very first review. I replied to it and let him know this was a new ball, but Costco didn't post it. Notice all of the "no" he got regarding whether or not his review as helpful?

Costco always does the right thing, you'll get your money back. I'm sure it's a fixable problem, I'm no ball construction expert, but who knows, maybe they took the cookies out of the oven too early this batch, lol. I'm sure they'll fix the problem or find a new supplier to make their balls.

It used to be lifetime on that stuff also. People would buy a TV in the early plasma days and just return it every year for the newer model and they eventually had to put a limit on it. It was like a TV lease with lifetime upgrades. I'd like to know how many tv's got returned for Super Bowl weekend and Xmas time back then

18 holes, 2 bunkers, one tree hit really hard (pulled 3 wood).

Ball still looks great, performed great, really loved the puttability (maybe because I drained 2 over 15 feet=$$).

After every hole I inspected the ball expecting to see dents, flaws, smilies, discolorations, scuffs, etc.

No issues. None.

I realize 18 holes is not a true scientific test, but so far, so good. Overall, the ball performed great.

YMMV

Titleist rep was at my club yesterday and I showed him this. He already knew...You don't think they are monitoring Costco??? Well he said this is not a cover issue so to speak. This is a bonding failure. He said that the cover on these balls would be less durable than normal but the splitting and cuts were from the cover not holding onto the inner layer. When it separates, the outer cover tears easily. He said if this happened with a ProV1, it would tear even easier than these. He doesn't know if this was just a bad run but it can be fixed with better temperature control and or they had a bad run of urethane. He said if they can get this fixed, expect a ball less durable than a Titleist that will show scuffs and small peeling from wedge shots but the tearing should go away.

This was my results after two rounds with the new ball. No tearing but a couple smudges in the cover similar to what I would get on a TP5X or Z-Star. I’m going with the Titleist rep in assuming there was a bad batch made and it will soon be fixed.

I guess one difference in Costco, being a "members club" type thing, is they can fix a manufacturing issue like this and sell just as many balls as they would have if the problem never happened. A commercial OEM like Callaway would have to pull a new model off the market completely if they let a few thousand totally useless balls get sold, that product's market share wouldn't recover in a million years.

The product and corporate communications people are well aware of the site, this thread and issues with the balls. I'm 99.99% sure they have at least 2 team members who have participated in the thread since the beginning and have only asked questions. I've talked/emailed with people in Washington as well as regional folks. Because they didn't allow employees to buy the original 4 piece ball, I gave 2 sleeves to the regional marketing person. As I shared yesterday, the CS folks weren't aware of the quality concerns with some of the balls but they are aware now.

I think most people with access to the K-Sig won't give a flying fart what Titleist does with their balls if Costco can keep up availability this time around.

You lot have been predicting the death of the entire golf ball industry for, what, about 2-1/2 years now. Always with the if this, if that, if whatever.

The only thing Costco has yet been able to sell in any meaningful quantity is the K3 which has maybe a 0.1% market share, if that, at the moment.

But keep predicting it. Who knows, one day you might be right.

The original ksig was a fluke. It was always meant to be a cheap ball, and cheap balls do cheap ball things.

I have no idea why people 'expect' these balls to perform like $40 balls that have millions in research tied into them. Mind boggling.

What has changed is that the expected availability of 10/15 has been removed.

Mind boggling?? Costco described the ball as suitable for tournament play and a lot of people agreed. That description was different from the K3 and KP1 that Costco describes as "a high performance ball suitable for recreational and competitive play."
