The Max must be selling really well b/c PGA SS has the G400 on sell....all except the Max

The g400 line from what I hear is being replaced, except the MAX! Smart move by Ping!

Just hit my LST vs the Max. Ballspeed on misses was better with the Max and launch conditions were the same outside of the low heel miss in which the LST was lower spin. The Max when hit high toe is incredible.

I had a Ping rep test my G20 against the G400 he suggested I stick with the G20.

Interesting. Did you test vs the G400 or G400 Max?

Your rep drink?

Maybe even the more appropriate question is......does your rep want to stay employed at PING?

Perhaps an even more appropriate question is,,,,,,,,,, does Ping want its reps to be honest with their customers ?

Just picked one up today and I concur with the wow factor. Not sure how long it it compared to my M3, but it’s very straight. Face sets up a tad shut to my eye and its helping me draw the ball again. My ears are still ringing from the sound tho. I guess its time to get a real shaft for this thing. That said the stock non tour shaft is working pretty damn well.

High swing speed guys,

You prefer the max or the lst? I am swinging at 120-122 mph and have the lst 8.5 right now. Max has my interest.

I know champ and finau play it but I am sure it is tweaked with hot melt and all sorts of things to get perfect.

I want to know how retail heads stack up to each other.

Worth the switch? I had a 9* demo in my hand today and almost bought it.

Love my lst, just wondering if it can be better still?

I don't swing as fast as you. I've hit 119 but that is pretty much maxed out. I'm typically 112-115 range. For me, the Max wins out over the LST. The larger sweetspot just allows you to swing more freely in my opinion. I had a LST and thought it was great, but dispersion with the Max blew it out of the water and I hit more consistently higher ballspeeds with the Max. By far the most forgiving driver I've ever owned. I've gone away from it for now while in the silly season. Trying out a z785, but as soon as I start 2019's season and go back to all Ping, the driver spot is set. Max it is. It's that good.

Just picked up a G400 max 9* head for dirt cheap on craiglist and sold my M4. I will be gaming it this weekend and can't wait to hit it.

Didn't care for the M4? Curious to hear your comparison of the two as I am looking at picking up one or the other.

I can't make a comparison yet. I have not hit the G400 max yet but will be gaming it this Saturday and report back. As for the M4, it was a good driver. I really liked the look of the crown at address. Sat really nice behind the ball. It was pretty good on mishits too. I just didn't like the feel and the sound of the M3, M4.

Has anyone kept track of # of fairways hit vs. distance?

I have hit a grand total of 2 fairways with driver my last three rounds :fie: ... but the trend is upward: zero, zero, two :nyam:

I think we need to just change how to measure the stat. Fairways mean nothing to me, is it playable where I feel confident I should hit the green? If so, the Indian and the arrow have done their job.

I really really want to love the G400 Max. I must've hit it 10 times, demo'd it on course and LM. It feels great and just right in my hands. But the performance just didn't back up my feelings. My dispersion went up a lot from my 913D2 which is baffling as everyone seems to love this club. I just ordered a TS3 but I had my heart set on a 400 Max this year. Just didn't mesh on the course.

Well so much for the "shaft doesn't make a difference" theorists. I borrowed an Alta CB shaft off the pro at my course and took out my Tour 65S.

The result was 9/13 fairways including 7/7 on the back nine. The fairway hits were right down the middle and the misses were small and playable.

My trajectory changed from a low squirty fade to a high draw. I don't know what the pro will charge me but I do know that this shaft is not coming back out.

108. Might have picked up a touch with the longer shaft because almost every drive was close to my record distance on the hole.

I have the Alta and it’s a great shaft.

My Original shaft was the stfiff. Then I purchased the R and the XS.

I’m settled on the XS now. Lower flight than the R.

This is all with std G400 driver. ^

Yesterday I received a used G400 Max and use it today with my XS shaft. Not good. Some fade shots and not near as consistent as my G400.

Will try again tomorrow. Maybe it was just a bad day. But so far G400 is better to me than Max.

Same here. Hitting my cobra f7 better better than the max. Will give it another shot tomorrow.

Swing speed around 118ish with the driver. Have the G400max with a Handcrafted Yellow HZRDUS. I have yet to find a better combo. It just goes straight always. I switched from the LST in May and won’t be looking back. A side note, I did like the sound of the LST more than the G400max.

Best driver I ever hit for distance and crazy forgiveness. I played a Rogue SZ 9 and 10.5 all season with numerous quality shafts fitted for me. My standard hit is slightly high toe - my miss is more toe. With the SZ the toe miss was a sniping hook - unplayable. But I persisted. After reading this thread and TXG Golf's praise of the G400 Max, I just demoed it in 9 and 10.5 with Ping Tour 65 S. Goodness is it forgiving and still long. Had toe hits and they were high push draws back toward the middle - SZ and it is in the left gunch 220 off the tee. Buying the 10.5 with Ping Tour 65S. Loved that darn thing. Shaft is great too. Could really throw myself at the shaft and no problems and the head is forgiving enough to keep it on fairway. Didn't get numbers - not a numbers guy - more how does it play and manage my misses guy. Based on eyeball test, I see no spin issues whatsoever.
