Bummed about Tiger but really bummed about Rory. Thought with all the good juju he would have a great week. Guess the pressure just gets to him.

If healthy, Tiger will still have a few chances. Who knows if he'll win another one (Major). Any of the top players can win anywhere if they are on. Personally, I think his best chances will be at the Open (if warm). Maybe he can play Augusta well for another couple of years but even he's said that it's a big ballpark that eventually you can't play well (or something like that). Tiger is obviously better than Phil but Phil's last good showing was 2015 (age 44). I think Freddie played late on the weekends a couple times in the late 40s or maybe 50s but the odds aren't favorable.

 

Honestly, I'm surprised Tiger hasn't ramped back up more for the two Opens. The victory lap and not being ready for the PGA is one thing. But he doesn't have forever left in the quest for 3 or 4 more. To me, the real question is whether there's something else going on with his health.

 

Based on his comments about playing more = won't be out here long (ie only so many swings left in the body), I wouldn't be surprised if he skips the Memphis WGC and the playoffs.

chamblee called him out on that ... horrible 1st round performances, then great rounds on the weekend to get into the top 10 ... i don't know that this particular tournament is an example of that, but understandably rory didn't want to admit the moment was just too big for him to handle ... quick glance says 6 people made a double, 1 made a triple and 1 made a quad ... doubtful the "bogeys" were ob, though it's possible one or two hit the green and made a putt ... the hole didn't play that hard for the field ... the putts at 16 were typical rory ... lose focus immediately and make a huge mistake ... if he's not A gaming it, he's not in it ...

He's probably going to have to shoot 66-67 tomorrow just to play the weekend. Top 10? Not too sure about that one.

Maybe not the greatest move, but if you want to catch up on the day's action with no spoilers, browsing the Tour Talk section doesn't make a lot of sense. There's always going to be a title or multiple titles giving things away.

Seems like some media members are blasting Portrush for their use of OB on the 1st. Personally, I think internal OB is stupid, especially on this course.

 

Then again, Rory knows its there and hooks one anyway, then does the same with his approach - so I can't exactly feel sorry for him.
