I love playing golf and recently ( 10 months ) started lifting weights as well. Doing all the power lifts and functional lifts such as the Land mine twists. Reached a "elite strength level" but don't seem to have gained much weight at all, im up about 10lbs but thats mostly because I allow myself to pig out way more since I suffer in the gym. it is definitely easy to be strong without gaining mass.

There is absolutely no need for Bryson to put on that much mass. I think the part where he referenced that Brooks would kick his butt bothered him. Especially when Koepka said "damned Right". Im sure Bryson wants to walk up to Koepka and just stare him down. Big gorillas usually respect bigger gorillas.

I think the most surprising part of my fitness journey is that it is sooooo easy to get strong but soooooooooo damn hard to increase swing speed.

I started lifting in 2012 and I’m about a club longer vs then. I got a club longer about 1-2 years into lifting. I don’t really train for speed though, like swing speed protocols. This was just natural byproduct of weight training

BADs is bulking so for anyone who has ever bulked u are def going to add muscle AND fat as it's impossible to just add muscle w/o chemical assistance. he will bulk then cut and back and forth if his goal is to get more muscle mass like all lifters do.

 

As for speed look at long drive peeps: on average they are STRONG and JACKED. So yes being strong will help him get longer off the tee. most of us hacks can get bigger/stronger but still have crap swings so the benefits will be way less helpful compared to a world class pro w/ great technique. 21st century golf is going to see long drive freaks that can also play/short game on tour and BADs knows it.

iirc, tiger stated the extra strength helped to control his speed better ... also recall tom kite saying one year later in his career he was longer than before because of weights (not easy to make a kite reference in a thread about muscle gain) ... and angel cabrera bulked up at some point ... then won 2 majors ...

Please. TW was beating the crap out of everybody when he lookin like this below. He lifted because they called him Urkel and he wanted to look good for chicks. Looks like he basically did bench and curls, the vanity lifts ; )

Weightlifting does not add any distance for Tour players. You can't name any Tour players who significantly increased distance after beginning weightlifting compared to before.
