I really like the Shane Bacon addition. He was one of the few great things about Fox's coverage. 

I like Anna Whiteley, she seems informative, same with Cara. It seems both having GolfWorld experience has paid off. 

Paige McKenzie in the booth replacing Judy, was a great move in my eyes.

But, Brendal is the straw that stirs the drink there. 

Other than that, get back to more instruction. Miss those Golf Academy shows. Big Break was great!!!!!! I agree 100,000,000% on the movies. Maybe once in a great while, but waaay too much lately.

Have more College Golf coverage with a college golf show (CBSsports' Inside College Football), more European coverage. MORE Web.com/Kornferry coverage.

The move will give the network suits more opportunities to "manage" The Golf Channel so they can turn it into a swirling, steaming heap of poop, as they do with everything else on TV.

Lauren Thompson and Chantal McCabe both said their goodbyes to GC on Twitter today, so they're both being left behind. I did see Jaime Diaz on Golf Central tonight, which is still coming out of Orlando for this week. Geoff Shackleford tells me this is the last week for that.

I haven’t watched GC since I didn’t work for a whole summer! Was awesome. I must have seen that Medicus and Inside Approach commercial like 500 times.

 

I think I made my own Inside Approach with a paper towel roll and took some nice divots out of my floor 😂

Surprised that they couldn’t find another role for Chantel. I thought she was pretty good as a reporter and interviewer on course.

I knew GC was moving to Connecticut but until I read a couple of articles in the last days I had no idea how many people have been whacked. Sad.

 

Golf Channel used to be such a nice little money maker. Advertisers drooled over the viewer demographic. Now it's a stripped down shell of itself since NBC started calling the shots.

 

NBC sucks. Time to drop my TV package as one of the only reasons I needed it was to watch GC.

So basically there is no morning anything based on the reports. Some golf studio show at “midday”. MD was a good idea, IMO, didn’t start out all that great with the fake microphone and Erik but it evolved and I watched in the mornings - sort of transitioned me from Mike and Mike. Went through periods when I didn’t watch but the last few years Damon, RDD and Paige were good but things kept changing. 
 

MD really hasn’t been on all that long so I guess it’s back to infomercials or some rehashed stuff except when Euros are on in the am. No clue who they think an audience is for a show in the middle of the day when they used to show a MD repeat from the morning, won’t work for me or probably anyone who wanted a “fix” while getting ready for work. Except when live golf was on, during the day there wasn’t a lot going on after any Euro golf or MD other than repeats all day until Golf Central which I rarely watched.  

 

Time will tell, but sure seems like the content may not change all that much but I think the loss of MD/an early morning show will be noticed by viewers and missed.

She used to work as a "sideline" reporter for the Carolina Hurricanes, and was horrible, but, I must admit, she did a good job on the golf coverage.

The suits don't know how to create good new content. I don't think folks understand just how incredibly incompetent the network suit-wearing weasels are. They are good at having meetings. They even have "pre-meetings" to discuss what will be, and what will not be allowed to be discussed at the real meeting. They also are good at piecing together phrases like, "be that as it may, per se, if you will, as it were." They can't say "in the future," they have to say "going forward." They learned that at business schools. They can talk and talk and never really say anything. Be that as it may...

 

All decisions are based on how much do they think they can get from advertisers for the least cost to produce. It's not about the viewers, it's about hoodwinking advertisers into thinking such and such is going to be great platform for them and pushing them into a long-term contract.

 

Content? They don't need no stinkin' content. They can schmooze the advertising agencies because they're the network bigwigs in suits.

 

Added: I guess I shouldn't be so, so... truthful? Ha!

This is not different than anything in life. Almost everything we do, jobs, sex, even our golf swing, start out with hope, ideas and enthusiasm, but not much skill. We get better, then we eventually get worse.

Everything turns to crap eventually.

Really enjoyed the show when you all would break down tournament action and you and Big Timer would give some instruction around it.    Thought both of you made it very simple.   Wish the show would have emphasized that more and was great having players come in.  Stepson and Poulty were always great guests.

Idea: negotiate a deal where LPGA plays Sun- Wed.... encourage more west coast golf allowing more primetime events. 

 

The golf channel simply needs more golf and less pool noodles and hairspray

Weekday TV times are not usually good for ratings, especially if you aren’t in prime time. See Monday’s US Women’s Open final round for evidence.

I have to take issue with one thing you said.  You left out the meeting after the meeting to discuss the meeting.

I'm going to miss it. With the PGA Show, Bay Hill, and golf communities where a lot of pros live, year round pretty good weather, I associate Orlando with golf much more than CT. I will miss RDD. I really thought he did a good job. After seeing some old clips, I realize that I missed the simulator, too. I used to enjoy the instruction, and the travel segments. I know this has been a terrible year, and I hope this coming year will bring more varied content.
