You’re correct, he says he has over a dozen 8802’s and five or six Palmers. I believe Scotty and David Mills made a few for him as well. I loved my 8802 but needed cash and sold in in 1982 for 550.00$. Sad mistake. The club pro that bought it used it for many years and wouldn’t sell it back to me.

When I started this thread I didn’t think the 8802 model would be so popular, loved the version Wilson put out a few years ago.  Such a work of art.

For some reason, I cannot handle the shorter heel bumper. Once seen, it cannot be unseen!

I don’t mind it, particularly because it gets the sweetspot where it should be.

I would love the old MacGregor IMG5 that Arnold Palmer created the prototype of the Wilson Arnold Palmer putter.  This is the one he won the 1960 US Open with.  Next would be the George Low Wizard 600 that Jack Nicklaus won most of his majors with.

I’m going to pretend you didn’t say that so I can keep drooling over it, and hope that it’s just the angle of the pictures.

Ryan Palmer’s Odyssey. 🙂

Did you guys see what he pitted with at the Farmers Insurance? That thing can’t be worth more than $20.

I believe he plays an Odyssey # 5 WHP.  I rolled the new OG one this week at the local golf shop....great putter...I'm sure his has some upgrades....

Phil Micklesons #9's over the years - his current gamer (milled blade) is also so nice to look at.

I game a Versa 9 and also have a Clevelang HB 2. Something about the shape that just fits my eye.

I took a closer look on TV. His putter has a black insert. My (educated) guess is the version before White Hot. (The name escaped me at the moment).

I looked a bit more and honestly with limited lefties I don't have much to pick from. But this is what I would pick:

* Hank Lebioda's Scotty 009 with topline alignment.

* Bubba Watson's Ping PLD Anser, he has several and can spare one or two.

* Mike Weir's Scotty Newport. Lefty, Canadian and won the Masters. I mean it's an almost perfect 2/3 match.

I consider myself lucky I've never sold one. I bought my last 8802 or Palmer in 1982 for $20. My last purchase was a black 8813 head that weights 329 grams last year. And the final bit of luck was yesterday acquiring a couple of Royal paddle grips.

Spieth's 009

Rickie's former NP2 Timeless (think he basically had Tiger's version for a while)

Koepka's former T10 Select buttonback

Kevin Burns putters from the 90s were just incredible. As mentioned above Olazabal's from his Masters win or Freddie and his. Some of the best feeling putters I've ever rolled.

I guess I see the putter as a tool, and this is like asking what carpenter's hammer you'd like to have or what mechanic's wrench you'd like to own.

When did putters start being thought of as "art"? Did it start with Cameron ... was it Tad Moore and that generation? Does it go all the was back to George Low? Or were there niche collectors back in the mashie and niblick days?
