I've no joke been  loading 38 inch pine logs on a truck , with just a cable winch all morning.    To cut  into  lumber for our new barn.  I’ve invested so much pollen today I may never breathe again.

ANGC does something to a lot of these players...I will pull for DJ and JS, but my dark horse pick if the stars align is Phil....as long as he doesnt shoot himself out of the tournament on Thurs, he someone that won't crack if he gets near the lead on Sunday afternoon, if there was ever a 50 yr old capable of honestly winning its PM and his window is closing if not already closed

Blade, actually that sounds like an enjoyable and honest days work, which will lead to even more enjoyment when you build the barn --- though the pollen part not so 🙂

Rory is going to come out of the wilderness looking like Robin Williams in Jumanji and button up his first green jacket... Or self-detonate on day one.

The 'ol gunslinger will lose it with a 7 or 8 from the pinestraw at some point.  Then he'll tip his visor and give that weak thumbs up.

Yep, contrary to popular convention I would like to see him move away from "hitting bombs", hit more fairways (for him) and rely on his experience and Augusta magic.  Would love to see him contend again.

He will have an ok round 1 or 2 and a clanker in round 1 or 2 and make the cut on or right above the number.   He will have a hot round 3 and get back into the mix.  Round 4 front nine he will close within 2 or 3 of lead and the announcers will be beside themselves until he fades on the back nine and finishes around T7.  And we will have yet another tournament where we can all say, "If he only didn't have that one bad round," again.

Oh it is.  But it’s been going since October.  Lol.

One of the tropical storms took out our 100 plus year old peach packing shed , so we’re taking the trees it uprooted and having lumber cut to build a bigger bettter barn.    Mostly  oaks , but now some big ( 90-110 ft ) tall pines we cut for rafters and upstairs floor joists.

going to be 100 % wood from the farm.  But oh my is it hard work.

I got a nomination for worst myth in golf.

"You have to be a right to left player to play well at Augusta" "Fade players don't do as well"

Some guy with 6 of them there jackets was a fade player.

Bubba is a lefty fade player which makes him a right to left guy.  I see where the saying comes from but it is no absolute.  Just like any course, driving the ball well and where you want it to finish you help yourself.

As greens-centric as ANGC is I don't think you have to be a great putter to win there.  You just have to keep yourself in position to not three-putt.  That makes it a course where accurate irons and wedge players should shine.  There are going to be lots of two-putts.  How many times can you put yourself into a position to one-putt?

+1. Some other guy with 5 jackets was also primarily a fade player.

Hard to go against the momentum player right now in YJS even though he won last week, I think it frees him up a little to play comfortably again without the pressure of that overdue win..  Rahm is my next pick, he also seems to play well there, but having a newborn baby is tough..LOL    Would be a heck of a week if he could finish this one out, though.

And Freddie, who has one of the best track records at Augusta, was also a fader.  Though he could sling it right-left, especially with his three wood.   I think Cabrera faded the ball as well.

Seems like most of the time when watching shot-tracer, these guys hit it dead straight on a string with very little curve.

Out of the following group, who is the best lock for a top 10 finish?

Rory

Rahm

Cantlay

Hovland

BDC

Westwood

Morikawa

Rory and Westwood as locks for top ten.

As BDC's driver goes, so does he.  If he has it, he will be in the mix near the top. If he doesn't and ends up dropping shots because of it and needing to rely on iron play and short game, he will struggle.

Hard to say with Rahm and the effect the new kid has on him.

The remaining three I don't see as proven in majors yet (knowing full well Morikawa won the PGA, I just see that as a very different than the typical major pressure A) no fans, B) the course and C) it was the PGA Champ and not one of the other three).

If I was going to rank those players in terms of likelihood to be in the top ten:

  1. McIlroy
  2. Westwood
  3. BDC
  4. Rahm
  5. Morikawa
  6. Cantlay
  7. Hovland

I lived my whole life not counting on Lee Westwood for single a thing and the first time I pick him for anything, in this case a player pool, he drowns and takes me along with him. I am now reminded why I never cared for this guy and his goofy UPS shirts.

I feel obligated to come back and admit I underestimated Rory's ability to have back-to-back clankers.

I feel badly for anyone who placed a bet for Rory to fade to mediocrity based upon my predictions.  I had no idea he would just plain old stink it up.  Fool me once Rory.  Fool me once.
