Worst round so far for 2021

Yesterday was what I considered a brutal round for me.  We were playing WIllowick and it's considered one of the easier courses in the OC.  Wide fairways, not too much OB and mostly generous greens.  Many of the holes favor the draw.  Course sets up well for me.  Ended up shooting 81.  Lost a ball but my driving was atrocious.  Ball would curve left more times than usual.  Even well struck shots were curving left even my irons.  Winds were benign as well which is unusual for Santa Ana.  I believe my GIR was 6/10, many of them 20 yards or less to the green.  I felt like a hacker!  I'd like to hear your guys worst rounds of this year.  💣

7.5 months to go. Both those scores will be higher and hopefully lower by 12\31\21

Yes I know.  My intention was not to brag so I apologize if I came off that way.  I was simply stating facts for myself.  I'm a 5 cap.  I'm almost certain I will have at least one round worst than the one yesterday.  Also, yesterday's golf course is considered pretty easy compared to the most of the other courses around here.  I have high expectations for myself.

Had a horrible day yesterday, cold and rainy. Didn't help that I couldn't hit a tee shot to save my life, shot a 103.

I played 36 on saturday. Started with my worst round of the year at 81. The next 18 played lights out and shot a 72, the best round in a year. Golf is weird sometimes.

I've only played 1 round so it's my worst and best. But it wasn't a great round, didn't have iron distances figured out, didn't have any touch with the wedges, couldn't get a consistent green speed. But it was a round of golf and I cannot complain that I got to play.

A few weeks ago I had the best driving day of my life and shot 101 with the same ball. Absolutely horrible iron play and so many 3 putts. Laughable that the next week I almost broke 80 for the 2nd time in my life. Golf is a funny game.

I'm a 5 handicap as well and I average around 80/81. I'd love for that to be my worst. But I still have a few rounds here and there that creep up around 85/86.

I have not broken 80 at my new home course and I think it’s going to be a struggle for me to get there

Pretty much my same answer lol. Even when I kind of had things figured out, I still made slight errors. For example, on my best hole of the round I sliced a drive, hit a nice 4 hybrid to about 115, should have probably picked 9 iron but went with PW. Ended up on the green, but it only went 105, then went too conservative on the putts and 3 putted. Still ended up with bogey, but if I had been just a touch smarter (club selection) or more aggressive (putting) I could've had a rare par. However, it was my first round of golf for the season so can't complain too much.

Score-wise it was a 103. To be fair, it was Pinehurst #2 from the blue tees (6961 yds), so I’m not too unhappy about it. Best round was an 82.

Ouch.  Pinhurst can be difficult when it gets windy and dry, especially those greens.  You better have a short game and be a good putter or else it will be a loooooong day.

I was headed there Sunday but mercifully play was nearly ground to a halt behind two really slow groups and my partner had to make a follow-on event so we jumped ahead two holes into the huge gap to finish on time.  Consequently, I didn’t have to suffer the indignity of adding it up.

 

Front nine was a bit leaky but I held it together with good short game work.  The wheels began to fall off the cart on 10 when I three-whacked from 20 feet after my two best shots of the day.  The last six holes we played were like watching a car wreck in slow motion...

After a few years of not playing at all I'm now getting to play again. My best scores have been on the toughest courses and my worst have been on the easiest courses. I'm very happy that I haven't lost my swing rhythm so I'm doing better than I thought I would. 

 

I suck at pitching and chipping. My first full round out I looked great until I had to chip. Nothing but blades and duffs. So many doubles, triples, and even a quad or two...and that was with not a single OB and played the same ball the entire round.

I don't even normally keep score, but I had one round recently where I didn't even finish two holes and lost nearly every ball in my bag (had one left by the 17th).  That would have to be it.  Was trying some stuff with my swing - it didn't work.

Well I might have a new contender. On a 9 hole after work league - four lost balls, two triples, two doubles, and five pars for a 46.

95 is the worst. Started with a 9 and was 11 over after 4 holes. 

Shot 52 on the front 9. So I was quite pleased with my back 9.

 

Other than randomly topping 3 drives, I actually struck the ball quite well. But it was very windy and my distances were all over the place. Holed nothing with the flat stick either.

You do realize that we're only in April.  I see that we have a hater here.  Well, I will give you this.  Last Saturday I played Babe course at Industry Hills.  Shot 86 so technically that would be my worst round for the year so far but that was after I shot 81 at Willowick the previous week.

As I have only 2 full rounds this year so far, I will add my best 9 and worst 9. They happened in the same round. Went 48-37(36-35 is par). Didn't have a par until the 8th hole. Made the turn and went Par, Birdie, Par, Eagle. Strange round.

Worst round of the year so far... yesterday. It snowed in NY, didn't keep score because I was putting through snow but it was by far the worst so far.
