I’m bored with my driver….recommendations?

Criteria:

Can be bought under $300, so old stuff is fine.

SS runs about 115, mid-high launcher

currently playing an original sim with an attas T2 6x at 43.75”, and hit it fine, it just doesn’t “do” anything for me if that makes sense.

I went from a m2 to the sim last year, and haven’t tried anything else on the course over the last 3-4 years.

thanks in advance for the help!!

I second Cobra SpeedZone. I picked up the RadSpeed a few weeks back and this thing is nuts. Anywhere on the face goes straight and long, and the SpeedZone and RadSpeed are basically no different. You too can hit juicy, calf-activated bombs like me if you pick one up

I vote for Speedzone as well.  Had one earlier in the year with a speeder Evo IV and it was an awesome combo!  Had a little hot melt added to the toe.  Sound and feel was great!

@golfnmudd  please keep us updated on your search for a new driver...

From your OP... somehow, I got “Pina Colada Song🍹🌴” vibes

ie wondering if you end up sticking with your “old faithful” after the search for a new GF! 😬

Me, I have a new-to-me G400 (with Ping Tour65) ... but still keep old-faithful G30SFT (with a ust v5 7f4) in the bag as a 2nd driver  (just in case new GF isn’t bringing it on the day)

What about a lighter/longer shaft and some lighter head weights - maybe something in the 50 x/tx range at 46”?

Bored?  Since you're playing a short driver, shaft it up to test it out as a longer bomber 46+" 💣

Or go back in time and hit some of the ones renowned for feel: 910 D3, Anser... persimmon.  Then come back to appreciate the SIM!

Another PGX Proto vote

I was absolutely satisfied with my 425max took a flier on a PGX fitting when I had the opportunity

its not a step above in performance it just sets up nicer, looks better and I was able to sell the 425 and get the Proto with a sweet Ventus B shaft..looks,sound and feel we’re a notch above the Ping still learning the Ventus shaft but I like it...feels a little loose until you get after it definitely a big improvement over the Alda shaft in the 425

Spend the money on a @Fujikura GolfVentus shaft and let that SIM come to life. It’s been a game changer. I was always pretty confident in my driver but it’s been amazing in my SIM2 head this season.

So, hitting approaches out of the fairway is too boring? Sounds like a first-world problem to me... 😯

Caution: If a new driver appears, hold onto the SIM a few weeks in case the newbie turns out to be false promises.

Callaway Mavrik.  Maybe the sub zero at your speed, but man... I have never had so much fun with a driver.  The look, the sound, the ball flight straight down the fairway past any other driver I have tried in the last 10 years.  I am loving this thing.

Hitting it “fine” for me doesn’t mean I’m always in the fairway. It just means the club isn’t one that I would immediately dump on the BST after 1 round lol.

I just can’t seem to find anything new that, when I set it down at address and hit 1 ball I get that “I’ve got to have this” feeling.  I guess I just miss the days of the r510tp and such, when new technology just seemed to blow me away compared to what I had been playing.

I’m going to dig out my rbz tour/fubuki alpha combo and go play this morning and see if I appreciate the sim more after that! 🤔

Just sold a Velocore blue 6x. I probably didn’t give it the chance it deserved.  I think had I had a head that I loved I would have kept it.

You might find something interesting in the + + sense with the  Tour model. When original (lime green trim) RBZ long clubs first came out, I bought two fairway woods. Problem: mine were the standard and not your Tour model. The standard had (for the time) superlight 48-gram Matrix XCon 5 shafts, and every third shot was a hard hook.

The Tour model drivers and fairways with the more robust shafts appeared to be better clubs for anyone with a little swing speed.
