But it’s probably a v1x copy to suit him no ?  Like the many callaway and TM balls that have lured titleist players away to full contracts.  They simply build a ball to act like his old ball.

Maybe. But that is why I am interested. That said the left dot prov1 is maybe the best ball I have every tried.

Surprising they don’t have Keegan Bradley on that list. Unless he is moving elsewhere this year.

Good call. I’m thinking he must be leaving. Otherwise he would definitely be there.
Keegan can now freely play the clubs he was meant to! 😂

Easily distinguishable, since Lowry's doesn't have a shaft adapter. I don't have insider information with respect to all clubs, but I do with respect to skis from when I was in that business, and as a result of that Taylor Made, when they were owned by Salomon Sports. In most cases the only thing a World Cup grade ski has in common with the consumer version is the paint job. At one time the best selling high performance ski worldwide was the Rossignol 4S. There was the consumer version, and then there were the World Cup versions, thirteen of them in all, none of which shared the same construction as the consumer version. But they all had the same paint job. I skied on one of the World Cup versions, and the difference between it and the consumer version was like that between a BMW M4 Nurburgring and a Honda Civic. They don't sell real racing skis to the public, because recreational skiers would end up in the woods. My guys at Salomon told me it was the same with Taylor Made pro-grade drivers, although it would only be balls ending up in the woods.

Sorry, dont know anything about the skiing industry but there is no correlation to that in the golf equipment world. Ive head tour only heads and retail from many manufacturers, and the two main differences are retail heads tend to be draw biased and the shaping is a bit different. Construction is the same, same materials, same ball speeds, same forgiveness. Since 90% of golfing public slices, thats generally what they cater the retail stuff too…. Also You would be stupid to release a dumbed down version, there is too much competition for sales.

I got my hands on quite a few when they came out for a short period of time, but the Ebay market for Left dot ProV1's is nuts

I refused to play them because I can’t get them. Lol.   I already knew it was a great ball after I had a sleeve given to me several years ago.  Shame they don’t just sell all the options in enough quantity to not have hoarding and gauging.

Pretty strong statement for someone who acknowledges they "don't know anything about the ski industry."  I know a great deal about both and the earlier statement is spot on.

Both ski and golf manufacturers produce vastly different equipment in small batches specifically geared to the needs of top athletes.  Tour grind wedges are like a plug race ski boot - custom ground to the athletes exacting needs.  World Cup downhill skis are like the Titliest 970 fairway wood.  Awesome, demanding, not for the general public, but dangerous in the right hands.  And the earlier poster's example about the old Rossi 4s is like darn near everything TaylorMade did for 20 years.  One model for the public, one similar looking but vastly different model for the tour.  As for different construction and stiffer higher modulus materials, see the graphite shaft industry and take your pick but I'll start with TX flex Tensei shafts...

Anyway, this thread is about Brooks' switch to Srixon.  Carry on.

The tx flex tensei shafts are available to buy at retail… but ok. And you are saying them having a custom wedge grind is the difference in a honda civic and a bmw m4? Really? Ill end with this. I averaged 303 yards this year with 62% fairways hit with a “honda civic”. Someone get me one of these pro magic sticks…. Ohhh baby

It could be interesting when a pro tried using his normal racing technique with consumer skis. I was at a Rossi dealer event when Tomba did just that. They gave him a pair of consumer 4S for a demonstration run on a slalom course. He blew out at the second gate. He immediately realized what had happened and laughed about it. He throttled back and completed the run still going twice as fast as any of us dealers could.

What would be the difference in support a tour player gets from the manufactures tour truck if they were a free agent vs a sponsored player?  I'm not even sure what the Srixon tour truck is like or if they have a presence but for arguments sake, what level of support would Brooks have gotten before he was sponsored vs today now that he is on their payroll?

It’s darn near the same. They are all chasing numbers and tour usage. The level of support for every player out there is very high. Obviously if you’re Tiger or Phil it’s a different level but they all get the full welcome mat. Years ago my dad qualified for several Champions events, and he was a total unknown out there. Any manufacturer he talked to got him anything he was looking for and treated him like his usage was way important to them.
