Tiger Woods - with TM Stealth driver - 2021 PNC Championship

Probably compared to his SIM. However as @Valtielpointed out, the CG is most likely still plenty rearward which may be why Tiger is getting more out of Stealth with his cut shot.

Wasnt he in a sim2 last year? Maybe he was talking about that?

At The Hero, he was pictured hitting OG SIM. Quick but not super thorough Getty check shows him with OG SIM and no SIM 2.

people are overly critical of driver designs.  don’t like it, don’t buy it.  I for one, can’t  wait to see how it performs.  If it can’t beat out my gamer, so be it.  “The S in stealth looks like a cheap sticker” etc etc and on and on

I’m not sure I love what I hear about this model and I’m thinking I’m more interested in the max model.

the forward COG should make the club more unforgiving. Unless they somehow increase the perimeter weighting around the face.

Maybe that’s the engineering feat of the club because of the carbon. They move the cog forward without decreasing MOI or forgiveness because the carbon let’s you move the weight off to the sides of the face.

I mean, there's two models for a reason

he said the COG is more forward.

Context is everything. Compared to what?

Exactly, he likely meant more forward when compared to the other models, not a truly "forward CG" which no one is really making right now. He has actually said in the past that he can't turn over a driver when the CG is too far forward back at the end of the Nike days.

A carbon face might have freed up 10-15g of discretionary weight, maybe a little more? Hard to know for sure, but not enough to do what you're suggesting, which is a more dramatic separating if vertical and horizontal MOI. MOI is 3-dimensional, and a traditional driver head can not have both a forward COG and a higher MOI from a performance standpoint, because one of the axis will suffer. A driver with extreme heel/toe weighting would be far less stable vertically and would almost be guaranteed to have a pretty high CG as the further towards the heel/toe you move weight, the higher up in the head it moves. This is antithetical to the physical design of the head with the low and drawn back sole we've seen since the M6.

Heard a snippet of his interview on Sirius. Said he likes the forward COG as mentioned above. He said everyone knows he likes to curve it. With the previous drivers he only had one shot the draw. The cut on previous drivers were too short.

Now he says his cut goes further so he now has two shots.

A common complaint was the Sims and Max’s were kind of close. This sounds like more separation

Do you have a link to that interview?

EDIT: Found it, he referenced his setup at Augusta which I assume was when he won with the M5. The M5 was a way higher CG driver than the SIMs so it feels like he snuck in compliment in for Stealth when compared to the older M5 as opposed to the SIM. I could be wrong as he could simply be referencing more ball speed retention assuming he still tries to hit the ball slightly off the heel sometime when cutting it.

The og sim and max were pretty separated but the sim2 and sim2 max were nearly identical

The question remains, who is Stealth made for?  Actual golfers or wannabes that have a love connection?

Agree.

Everyone that I know of that watched TW yesterday, was happy he's improving and even a better man/father.  However, NOBODY, including me, thinks he has what he had leading up to the previous comeback.
