I reported earlier in this thread that a buddy has 230s ordered and was quoted early November for delivery at the latest and possibly in October. He has now been told early December. This is straight from the local Ping representative. Looks like they are pushing it back some.

This is the weirdest release for ping IMO. Seems like they really botched it.

 

no dates, no info, no fitting cart heads.

 

they seeded them on tour months ago with absolutely no follow up.

 

No seeding in the YouTube review world.

Could have been. I don’t really recall totally.

 

I dont feel like they dragged it along this bad though. Seems like there was actual info from ping on those readily available to the public on the website, etc. 

 

I also remember there being high profile YouTube reviewers with those.

I'm pretty sure the Blueprints were in Louis' bag in October 2018 and didn't come to retail until May/June 2019.

I was told (second-hand) from a rep that the adhesives used to secure the backplate were faulty. Pings supplier crapped the bed on this one and caused the delay in release.

I’m not here to tell you that you do or do not, I just know how Ping works when it comes to releases from being close to a Ping staffer for 15 years.

From what I know, only staff have access to their own demo products and even my buddy who has their largest account that’s green grass in the region, can’t order yet for even himself.

I can't tell you why your friend can't enter pre order them, but I do know I can preorder at this moment and have receipt of input into the system.

I haven't been paying too much attention to these, but can anyone share insight if more Ping staffers are putting these in the bag? I know some players still game the iBlades. I'm just personally interested to getting a set. Tried a friend's i210 and loved the feel/sound/forgiveness. I like how simple these i230s are looking... although those CB Cobras that Rickie has also looks cool.

I’ve never seen such damaged / scratched / marked up backplates on relatively new irons in tour witb photos ever. 
it wouldn’t bother me, but it will bother a lot of the general population who do buy them.

I have not seen any mention of stock shafts.

 

Would the pre orders be for whatever the stock shaft is?  Doesn’t seem like how picky Golfwrx’s would roll.

I’m one to always clean my clubs, so this may not be how others feel but…..the gap between this weird back plate and the club looks like it is going to allow debris in there and be impossible to get the water completely out of after washing them.

They are using the clubs every single day. They are being carried in 50lb bags and being set on the ground. They are in an airplane constantly, sometimes not private, and we know how airlines treat baggage. PGA Tour players are not looking to keep their clubs in "pristine" condition. Tools not jewels. I wouldn't put much weight into that.

A bit off topic but is the finish on the i210 the same as the glide 4.0? Looks a bit different from pics comparing the i230 to i210. Playing the glide 4.0 eye 2 in 54 and 58 and would be happy with a full set.
