I remember reading some stories in the past year of people preordering clubs and not receiving them until a couple of months after the release date. I don’t know if that was an issue with Ping, but it will still depend on the availability of shafts and grips.

I haven’t seen anyone with issues that actually ordered from the initial preorders. I’ve  ordered within a few days of the initial preorder and revived my equipment form Ping on time each release.

My i59 order was delayed by about a month and I pre-ordered it at the first available time. I think Ping was having a lot of supply chain issues.

When I ordered my ChipR this year, it came within a day or two of the release date. I think Ping should be fine for the i230 release.

I preordered i525 and they were at golf shop a day before general release date.

Ping has not released any collateral information on the the i230 and no fitting heads in the cart yet.   But yet they are being pre-ordered with an early November delivery?   That is only 5 weeks away.

It seems very odd and not in the order that Ping typically does things.  Felt like the social media pics were building to a release announcement, but that momentum has been frittered away.

I was waiting for this release for a long time now but it feels like ping are not in a rush. My clubfitter have no idea on the release date (canada). I dont want to be fit in the middle of the winter either.

think i will go to a fitting for mizuno or something else but it is unfortunate ping wont be in the list.

Im sure Ping is not in a rush because if they release a new product and it doesn’t go smoothly, then people on this board will tear them to pieces. If Ping takes their time to make sure the release goes well, then people on this board will complain about why it’s taking so long.

My guess is that they were always planning on a fall release. They probably leaked some photos and allowed some press around the Open championship because it was the last major of the year and they may as well get a little buzz going. They may have lost some momentum on this forum, but it won’t affect the success of the i230 once they are officially announced.

As a loyal i210 user since they were released, I'm taking the wait and see approach.   I like the head shape, the feel, the sole design and the forgiveness of the i210.

One minor gripe is I wouldn't mind if the i230 had a bit less spin.  It seems that the i210 is consistently higher in spin than both players irons like T100 and also players distance irons like p790, i525 etc.   If the i230 has less spin with the same characteristics of the i210, I will probably go for them.

As someone that has never played the i210 but is interested in the i230, this is my biggest concern. I naturally put a lot of spin on my irons, so I play stronger lofts to help offset.

Do you play power spec i210s? If so, does that help with the spin?

Thanks in advance.

I do play power spec and it probably helps, but if you look, it's like a degree or two at most. They are still weak compared to many irons out there.

This is definitely a minor gripe for me because I can't say I hit the irons way too high or spin them off the greens.  I play the standard ProV which is a lower spin lower trajectory ball.  But I think I'd prefer the trajectory to be a touch flatter and I'd probably get a few more yards while still being able to stop the ball.  It's apples and oranges given the shaft, but my Mizuno T22 54 degree with a DGS300 goes almost as far as my i210 49.5 degree UW, which has a project X LZ.  The T22 is really long though for a wedge.

Just to add to the fun, not only did they trademark Blueprint T and S, they've also done S159 and S259.

Really feels like they're going to match/follow Titleist with their product strategy. Next up, they'll just start calling them "fairways" and listing lofts.

"Golf is just a dance with a stick, and a ball tells you how good a dancer you are."  LCP150mm in your fairway should be a full-time rule.

I wasn’t that hyped about the looks on these from the in hand pics that were floating around way back when, but they look sweet in this photo. So obsessed with the hydropearl chrome finish ping does. The only way these don’t end up in the bag is if they sound like the i59

Is it just me or do the sole width on the these irons look much slimmer compared to previous i200 and i210 models?

That’s what I thought too, although that W looks a little chunky haha. But honestly it looks to me like a perfect mesh between the iblade and my faint memory of the i210, and I’m all for it. I’m just praying it sounds/feels more like those two than their current lineup.

I like the look and was a huge fan of the Iblade look , but I got a sneaky suspicion those badges won’t last the test of time.

My boss saw them and hit them ~2 weeks ago.  It's a plastic plate ala T200.  Not sure the reasoning behind it as I didn't ask, but I would expect some scratching like what some have reported on the T200.

For some reason the plate on these doesn't bother me near as much as the T200.  I think its that it covers less of the back and doesn't stick out as far.
