i230 preorder is 10/25 and release on 11/3
g430 is January

i230 is $187.50/club and the stock shaft is DG 105 but a few no upcharge stock shafts available.

awesome, thanks for these details ! dg105 is a nice stock shaft, also thinking a lot of ppl (possibly me) might throw a nippon shaft in there.

if $187 is also the same price as i525, how does this compare to i59 price wise?

Those timelines are fairly accurate.

My buddy on staff hit the 430 driver last week and said it’s a game changer for Ping, still has the turbulators, but the introduction of Carbon into the fold improved the sound and feel tremendously and assuming there would be performance benefits.

He said the biggest jump is the introduction of Titanium in their fairways.

If the performance is as good as my 425 setup with better sound and feel ,  I'll be all over it!

I did hotmelt my 425 driver to D5 and it did help , but the carbon is interesting.

Any chance if we know whether MMTs are going to be a simple upgrade, or some exotic overcharge?

I’ll second that. I also wonder if the carbon will allow weight reductions while maintaining the massive MOI.

I was told the carbon is for the LST only and will be slightly more expensive.

I know the sound doesn’t change performance, but they just sound so bad… Glad to hear the acoustics are being addressed, or at least attempted.

The i230 look beautiful, DG 105 as a stock shaft is a bonus for me. 4-G on my Christmas list for Santa.

I played i200s since release and they've been very good to me. Yesterday a new set of PXG Gen5 0311T/P combo set arrived. So far it's been a seemless transition for this longtime Ping guy, but with the bonus of improved feel. The PXGs feel exceptional when flushed, but with enough feedback on mishits to know where you missed on the face. The profile at address is very pleasing if you're an i200/i210 fan.

...not a suprised, I've always considered them PING Extreme Golf.

If this turns out to be true, I'd be highly disappointed. There are many decent players that are low spin off the driver (decent consistent strikers that hit the same spot on the face), and would need a head that maintains spin for control. We see tour players in the MAX head as well.

I had a G400 LST that I couldn't keep in the air on certain strikes and it lead to a lot of scrambling for par or more likely bogey for the hole.

If Ping engineers can add the carbon fly wrap to the LST head, why can't they add it to the MAX head? We know the 425 series were pretty heavy vs. other OEM heads so swing weighting became challenging.

Your best bet is to look on the numerous golf retail sites for current i59 pricing

Did he speak on what launch and spin was like?

wait why is that ? is that cuz they take such a long time with a non-standard shaft ?

In my experience, the upcharge for a shaft is pretty similar to what you would pay retail for the shaft.  So very little credit for the shaft that wasn’t used and no discount passed along from their buying power with the shaft company.

For those of you more interested in 430 speculation, I've added a topic with some new info. We can stick to 230 irons in here. 🙂

Do you know if your friend had the chance to hit the i230s? Curious if there's anyone out there who can shed some light on how it sounds/feels compared to i210 for all of us as a precursor.

Having just seen the highlighter yellow on the G430, I can only say I am VERY glad these irons are monochrome.

If you preorder you won't have to wait.

I remember reading some stories in the past year of people preordering clubs and not receiving them until a couple of months after the release date. I don’t know if that was an issue with Ping, but it will still depend on the availability of shafts and grips.
