Hope the trial drags into 2024, right about the time Tiger is named Ryder Cup 2025 captain for Bethpage.

What would be a good name for the inevitable PGAT vs LIV shootout event?  And how many pro NFL quarterbacks on each team?

Make no mistake: This action is just a prelude to the Major Tournament fight and the Saudi Golf League attempt to totally dismantle golf as we know it......

Masters, PGA, US OPEN and The OPEN are now on the clock......

When I look at the LIV money-list someone kindly posted I can see why the mammals have jumped ship and after only 2 or 3 events. You’re right, an extraordinary challenge I can’t see the European side funding such legal issues.

This might be along the lines of what happened right before the Scottish Open.  Didn't a judge issue an injunction right before, allowing three LIV players to play?

The difference will be in the timing.  The suspension from the Scottish Open was not long before the suit was filed.   The PGA suspensions came first, and yet, these players waited until 8 days before the playoff to file suit.

It will be interesting to see if “emergency” relief is granted when the emergency is by the players delaying to file suit until now.   Plus, the PGA tour knew this or something like this was coming and have been prepping for the response since they issued the suspension.   So their ability to file a good response to this emergency request is probably much greater than DPWT had given the amount of time.

I like that the PGA Tour plans to make their case "vigorously". I've always liked that word...except when my Dad promised my HS principal he would address my attitude issues "vigorously" & he did.

And clearly he failed.  (I keed, I keed)

Given he is a contracted employee, they might need to outline an improvement plan prior to taking such actions.

Yes, follow the LIV Employee Handbook and properly paper his employee file first.  Good thinking!

I fully respect the players that made the decision to jump to LIV and resigned their tour memberships. I have also lost total respect ( which I'm sure no one outside my wife, kids and dog care about ) for the players who have made their fortunes playing a game we love and now whining because they want it all.  Phil is turning or maybe always was a sniveling little b**** who wants his own way and pouts if he doesn't get it.

No, no. We can't get ahead of ourselves. First we have the frivolous lawsuit. Then we have the vigorous defense. Next comes the aggressive negotiations...

I get a bit of arena football league vibe from LIV with the team thing, but I think overall, competition is good for the Tour.  Hopefully long term the competing pro golf circuits will evolve the game for the better and invigorate it.  I want to see the stuffiness of the game go away and it become a little more "cool" and approachable for more people.

Swing hard in case you hit it!

Did you miss the LIV statement in June donating $100 million to local charities, education, golf development and community wellbeing programs?

No.

They've "pledged" in a 90%+ very non-specific way so far to money for vague "worldwide" causes and corporate responsibility and other various targets and gave $1(m) in Portland as part of the PR.  Maybe spent another million or so, so the proof will be in the real spending of the $100 million.

It wasn't part of their model, it's just another $$$$$$$ PR move, but I'm happy for any person that benefits as a result.

Golf is already cooler than the other side of the pillow. It's so cool the coolest kids spend all their time on this cool website making cool comments to each other all day (& night) long...

That is the thing, it's not a pro tour. It is paid employees partaking in an exhibition with guaranteed money. Think of a "win" more as a performance bonus

Money aside, with that mentality they will never be taken seriously.

Before covid, for the last 20 years we (wife and I) would pick out 5-6 PGAT events to go to each year.

Seems there was always a presence of the charity(s) represented there they were supporting for that particular Tourny.

Like they say, seeing is believing.

They still have a long way to go to catch up to the over $6 billion the PGAT has donated.

.....so based on current numbers that would 6 days for them LOL   *Yes I agree sad on that fact too
