Gary Player calls out son Marc on social media for trying to auction memorabilia without consent

Having a hard time believing the money raised previously went to any charity other than the "Marc Player Drug Addiction Fund".

 

Why else does someone in this situation do something like this?

I don’t know that much about the personal life of Gary Player, just his records and golf tips on fitness etc. But this family and Marc. It’s a friggin reality show. Who takes his fathers trophies and memorabilia and takes a shot on eBay. Really, who does that? What the heck is the back story and context on this mess.

It involves Gary Player, one of the most prolific winners in the history of golf and the trophies he collected winning those golf tournaments. Golfwrx is a website devoted to covering golf, and this discussion board is where registered members discuss all things golf. If it is confusing why this is a topic here, I’m not sure how to help you…..

“All other trophies or memorabilia were validly gifted to Marc Player by his parents, remain his, and Marc has been in full possession of these items for decades without any claim by his father, Gary’s management, the family, or Gary’s advisors,” the statement said. “You cannot take back what no longer belongs to you.”

 

I wonder what Gary charges people for playing a round of golf with him? If he needs the money.

I'm quite aware of who Gary Player is, my point is we have a thread dedicated to personal issues involving his son and frankly that stuff isn't our business. If you are good with this Twitter-fueled gossip train then be my guest, I personally despise the trash bin that social media has become and how much attention people pay to it.

Yeah man, I get it. Twitter is trash, social media is a terrible alternate reality, agree 100%. But a story about Gary Player’s golf memorabilia being stolen and sold by his son is definitely a legit talking point on this discussion board.

Once the family tries to sell something on a public platform and then discusses it on social media it is certainly fair game.  I could care less but their privacy wasn’t violated or anything…

I thought you couldn't take them off grounds after the first year or something?
