Anyone else NOT on the "Good Good" train?

I like Garret and Grant the most. But yeah I enjoy their stuff. I got into golf largely due to them. They gave me a realistic goal of what kind of skill level I can hope to reach if I worked hard. So that kind of appeals more to me than watching actual pros.

But now that Grant and Micah left it'll be interesting to see how that effects the quality.

Mr ShortGame (Matt Fisher) recently posted a video with the CEO of GG and first of all who knew they had a ceo and second of all that guy is about as engaging as a wet blanket. They talked about the recent departures and the future of GG but it was so boring that I couldn’t finish the video. I really do like Luke Kwon and I’ve followed him since his OU days but he seems really out of place in this lineup.

There's definitely something more important that I should be doing.

I followed Garret when he was finishing high school and started playing junior college golf until he lost his eligibility because of his YT videos.  He was very relatable.  Enjoyed the weekly matches with his cousin Micah.  Two good kids trying to get better at golf. I was entertained.

He eventually blew up, started doing silly challenges with annoying  personalities and became a “brand”.  The bro-golf and bro-challenges just don’t do it for me.  Their target audience is teenagers and early 20’s.  I still like Garret but I left good good years ago.  Nobody shed a tear.

They’re doing great, it’s just not for me.

I'm just not big on watching other people play games. They came to our course and filmed a couple of episodes. I watched just because it was our course. The main guy is really good and long but overall just not my thing. Rather be out playing than watching someone else.

A good reminder that this is all business, no matter how organic it may appear to be.

33 here and at the tippity top of the age range I think that has a chance at connecting. Much preferred the Garrett and Micah matches from back in the day as others have mentioned.

They do ham it up a little too much for my liking, just a little over the top sometimes. That being said, it's YouTube and it's a business. They're doing what's necessary to keep the membership growing/increase their wealth/feeds the algorithm. Can't fault them for that, IMO.

I think they definitely have a younger audience. Like 21 and younger if I had to guess based on the social media activity around them.

I'm 28 and if i see them at a cool spot in my recommended tab i may watch, but I don't go searching for it by any means.

This isn't meant to be a knock toward them, but it'll come out like one: I don't really see how they've hit it so big. To me, none of their personalities are really bring much to the table, I don't think they're funny (Like a bob does sports video). They're just (pretty) good at golf. Again, not trying to hate. They seem like decent guys, but I don't get it

Maybe it's the personalities, i just don't know.

... And that drives most entertainment. Mr Short Game seems like he drank a pot of coffee and did a few lines before his videos and I just can't watch. Same reason I love Quite The Chap as he is a fellow thespian/golfer and understands presentation is 75% of the product.

My son is 19 and likes them.  Even has some merch so you can blame him for keeping them in business.

I have only watched a few online golf shows and to me everything seems so long and drawn out.  At 48 my attention span must be getting bad.  I would rather see stuff like The Big Break.  Quick, easy, and requires minimal brainpower.

I'm a bit older and I really enjoy the content. Mostly entertaining but the loss of Grant will be difficult to overcome. It sounds like they have a major deal announcement on Jan 3rd, so time will tell where they are going and who will be part of the group.

Never seen the appeal of Good Good. They aren't exceptional players. No reason to watch for the golf. So, we are left with personalities - which are pretty much just a bunch of entitled clowns trying really, really hard to assert how wonderful they are.

At the end of the day, the Good Good guys remind me heavily of people I encountered when I was that age:

They were the kids who'd come around in their lifted trucks and IROCs on Friday nights and hassle me for skateboarding in an empty strip mall.

Or the CC kids who'd keep asking for "more rolls" when I was a busboy.

Or the private school kids that would make fun of me while I washed windows after school to keep my scholarship.

All that just to fill that empty hole of insecurity which lay in their own hearts.

That culture is bad for everyone.

Why were you being so stingy with the rolls?

I'm 34, and I like them for the most part, not every video is something I love but enough of them are good entertainment. With Grant gone I wonder what will happen with good good labs, that was their teaching channel and he was pretty good to watch and listen to.

I like how they have fun for the most part, sometimes they may get loud, but you can't be everyone's cup of tea.

I tried to get into it, but I found the general vibe of the videos a bit too loud, too "omg this is the greatest thing ever!!!" and generally just a bit much.  I like my YT golf a bit more laid back, and less screaming and yelling.

And I know just enough about them to know the two more laid back guys of the group have recently left, so I likely won't watch many more videos.  And the interview with the CEO was yawn inducing.

OP to be fair you and many others on WRX are not their target audience, I'm 32 and probably on the back end of the target audience. Their GoodGood views I'm not a huge fan of all the time but a few of the guys I like their individual channels, I don't watch them all the time but a few guys have some talent like Grant and Micah who both recently left the channel.

I guess at age 73 this is to be expected. But I had no idea what or who this is. And I regularly watch (usually while pedaling my indoor bike) Youtube videos like Sabine Hossenfelder, a couple of math things (Numberphile is my favorite), I relearned pretty much all the Music Theory stuff that I had forgotten on Youtube, etc. I stumble into golf stuff on perodically but never Good Good.

Too old, I guess.

Do the two have a unifying, underlying golf system to their swing advice? Or, is it a salad bar of miscellaneous tips?

I’m with ya on being too old for them. I’m 40 and the “oh, that’s awesome” is definitely out of my age range. The videos are a bit too edited for me as well.

I did watch Grants channel the other day playing with Bryson. I enjoy his channel because ultimately he is a golf nerd as well. I enjoy him outside of the good good label
