Best Golf Ball ever made in your opinion..

old: Maxfli revolution was the first premium ball I played. Could get the P balls for cheap.

Titleist DT distance - underrated distance ball that had a very mellow feel (for a distance ball)

Top Flite XL 2000 z balata - great feeling cheap ball

Nike Tour Spin (precept EV extra spin) - loved the feel of the ball but the cover would shred. Cheaper than the TA at the time.

Modern balls: I always go back to regular ProV1 no matter what I try.

Driver: Titleist TSR3 - Fujikura Ventus TR Velocore Red 6-X

3 wood: Titleist TSR2 - Fujikura Ventus Velocore Blue 7-X

3-GW: Titleist T-100 Nippon N.S.Pro Nodus Tour 105 S

SW, LW: Callaway Jaws RAW 54* and 58*

Putter: Titleist Scotty Cameron Golo 6.5

Ball: MaxFli Tour-x; Titleist ProV1; Callaway Chrome soft X

Tour LDP. Nike Platinum from about 8 years ago. Titleist Professional 100.

The One Platinum was the first ball I ever played that I actually noticed a difference in performance. I was probably 12 or 13 so realistically it was probably the first urethane ball I tried that wasn't a lost ball or something...

I just remember zipping balls backwards on the green & hitting some of my longest drives ever with it. Fun ball! Nowadays I can't tell much of a difference between tour level balls apart from feel.

anyone have word on future of left dot? or did they incorporate into the pro v1?

Titleist is doing another release of the left dot. It was more popular than anticipated. Ive spoken to multiple reps and they all have the same news. A limited release is coming.

Titleist took the left dot core, "enhanced" it slightly and put it into the new prov. essentially its the same but they use a slightly updated compound for the core.

Favorite "Classic" (Wound) Ball: Titleist Professional. I loved that ball. Loved the feel, the flight, the spin, and played maybe my best golf with it.

Honorable Mention: Maxfli Revolution - was my go-to when Professionals were (for some reason) sold out or only available in 100 compression.

Favorite "Modern" (Solid) Ball: That first run Nike One. Not black or platinum or anything else. Just "One". If anybody knows which Bridgestone ball is going to most closely mirror that ball please tell me. That ball knocked the Pro V1 out of my bag until they decided to add colors to it and I just lost interest.

Titleist TSR4  | Ventus TR VeloCore Blue 6 44.5"

Titleist TSR3 16.5° | Ventus TR Velocore Blue 7 42.5"

Titleist 816H1 19° | Rogue Max 85H A1 Setting

Titleist 962 4-P | DG S300

Titleist Vokey SM9 (52.12F, 56.10S, 60.08M) | DG AMT White Ti S400

Odyssey DF Rossie II | 34"

Ball | Bridgestone Tour BX

Bag | Taylormade Flextech Light

When I really got into golf (late 90d) the Maxfli revolution and titleist professional were the balls the play. Titleist was a liquid core wound and maxfli was a solid core round. Thr all solid strata and precepts were sexy as well, i liked the strata one i belive was a 4 piece ball with a small inner core with tungsten that felt great and spun well.

The ball though that really had ridiculous hype was the tm LDP red. That gets my vote I believe that's circa 2006/7.

I have no idea if it was the best golf ball ever made, but the Bridgestone e6 circa 2016 was one incredible golf ball.  Straightest ball I've ever played, good feel on the greens, enough spin to stick.  I'm reminded as I found a couple dozen that I'd stashed and have been playing them so far this spring and they're still as great as I remember.  Just the perfect combination.

Once they messed with the ball, bifurcating into the e6 speed and e6 feel (or whatever it was), they were never the same and I moved over to playing Titleist.

Bridgestone messed up a good thing when they split the e6.  I LOVED that original e6.  The conspiracy theorist in me believes they screwed it up on purpose so that audience would move to the RX.  One of the pros at my club was on Bridgestone staff and played the e6.  He told me the B330 didn't spin enough around the green for him so he took the e6 for his freebies because he hit them longer and the lower long game spin helped him with accuracy when playing less often.  I always thought that was interesting.

I also remember trying the e5 and watched it spin like crazy off the tee.  I couldn't hit a fairway to save my life with the e5.

For the best ball ever made, I really liked the Callaway Rule 35.  I played some great golf with that ball.

Others:

Titleist AVX

Nike RZN Platinum

Consolation:

Nike Crush Extreme (had too many cold ones on the first 18 but shot 68 on the back 18. Best round of 18 holes of my life 😂 And I don’t remember it!)

Luckily my buddies told me or I would never believe it.

For me it has to be the Nike (Bridgestone made) ball Tiger switched to and then won four majors in a row. In interviews even he admitted it was miles ahead of the competition.

So many great balls already mentioned, but one that I haven’t seen called out yet is the original Yellow Srixon ZStar XV. The almost iridescent yellow/green cover and the heaviness of the hit with that ball…it will always have a special place in my heart!

Cobra Tour 4-PW PX 6.5

Don't believe there's ever been a "best" ball made.  Just best at the time and that's usually what I play, till the next best comes out.

We’re probably all doing the same thing here.  Remembering fondly our first premium ball or the ball from when we played our best golf.

My favorite was the Maxfli HT100…when they were still made in Japan.  But the best balls ever are the latest pro level balls.  They are miles better than the wound balata or urethane balls of 25+ or so years ago.
