Tiger and Nike golf to separate after PNC? (*** MERGED ***)

I like this. Yes I'll occasionally buy something high end but rarely at full price.

I really get a chuckle out of those that buy things because Tiger or name your person wears it. I also mock people that wear sports jersey's with someone else's name on it🤣

I mean...I've never paid more than $50 for a Polo or Pair of Pants....I can almost always find a UA, Nike, Adidas, etc. polo or pants for $15-30 at Stores like Ross, Burlington, Dicks, GG, etc.  Thinking back the only time I've "Paid" more than $50 for a Golf Hoodie or Polo was because I had shop credit from a Scramble and it wasn't "My money" I was using...even then the Polo was $50 and Hoodie was $60 (Pins & Aces).

I much prefer to spend my money on Golf Clubs or Courses.

Doesn’t look any better than what I buy at Kohl’s

😂 I’ve been to Kohl’s (shopping for my dad) and seen what they offer. And own a jacket just like the one bscin posted. I can assure you that there is a noticeable difference. But you do you GGC. Different stuff matters to different ppl. 😊

Hopefully Nike completely exits the golf business…their stuff is so terrible…

Word around town (Beaverton, Nike HQ) is they are. Not sure if they will still do Jordans since they make bank. But the rest is going away as they have let quite a few folks go the last few weeks already

I recall Greyson commenting on their socials that they will start making big and tall gear down the road.

I don't believe any of the speculation that Nike are leaving the golf apparel market. They've made zero indication of that and continually drop new products, including recently. They also have more top players than any other brand out there. This only gained steam from a few clowns on Twitter.

Nike was dropping new products when they exited the hard goods/equipment abruptly so anything can happen🤷

I love greyson but would be shocked if Tiger went with them. They just dont have the budget for it. I am guessing either the TM apparel line coming out or FootJoy will be his landing spot.

Greyson might not have the cash but offering an equity stake in the company could be more lucrative long term anyways. Tiger doesn't need cash by any means so a long term play probably works for him. Greyson has been on a huge upward trajectory, adding Tiger would push them higher so an equity stake worth say $10 million or however many percent of the company right now might be worth $50 million just by adding him. Adding Tiger would make Greyson instantly one of the premier names in golf clothing so that equity stake would just keep increasing in value

Equity stake, that’s the key.  TW will bring more attention to the brand which will make more money for everyone involved.  It’s a win win!

I just popped in to say that I had not heard of Greyson's when I read through this thread so I googled them.  My mouth hit the floor, I was not prepared to imagine those prices.  I will stick with my poverty level Nike and UA.  Nice looking stuff though...

Yeah some that Greyson stuff is way overpriced for what you get.

For instance Chenoa II rain jacket is $498 with 10,000mm, which is light duty waterproofing. You can get that on most good quality, stylish big golf brands for well less than half that price. ZR comes to mind.

Heck for $498 you could buy something like Arc'teryx and it's going to perform vastly superior.

Nice sarcasm 😂 Not really necessary as I’m just telling you there is a difference. If again it doesn’t matter to you… Cool.

And I’m not sure yet. Haven’t needed it playing golf yet. But ill sarcastically let you know when I do 😉

If I'm Tiger and considering Greyson at all, I'd just buy the company.

No need to buy the company if an ownership stake is part of signing him.

Well $250 is still a chunk of 💰 so could make sense to spend more on something you really like the style and fit of.

Plus when people ask you what you’re wearing you be like

The time I spend a lot on a shirt is if I play a course, and through my buddy's connection we get a comp, then I am most definitely buying a shirt and helping the pro out.

For playing though, I know UA is considered "uncool", but for a guy who sweats a lot, it's hard to beat their iso-chill shirts.

What does this mean though?

No more Nike branded golf products? Or that Nike is gonna license their logo to someone else in the golf space?

So in other sports Nike has licensed out production to Fanatics to make a lot of apparel for different sports and pro team ie. MLB jerseys and soon to be NHL jerseys.

If you haven't heard of Fanatics they are an awful, awful company. Their quality is horrible, their customer service is non-existent and just destroying fan apparel all in the name of $$$
