My wife used to be in management at Nike Golf. I think it was 2016 or 2017 that almost 75% of all Nike Golf clothing sales were the plain solid color polo. The cheap one that 1/2 the courses use for employees or teams put their logo on. Sometime around '96. I think we just did a buncha white and randomly drove to DC while listening to Acid Bath's "While the Kite String Pops." 

 

Had a rad lunch somewhere near the Capitol.

I am far from a Woods fan, but that is absolutely foolish.  There may have been an overpay involved for the return received, but if you want to say there has been virtue signalling in golf in the manner you are suggesting, there are far better examples than this.

When I first got into golf in the early ‘90s I was a total logo slut. And no department store brands for me, nossir. I had to shop at places like Edwin Watts or club pro shops to get the good stuff. The loose, thick Ashworth jersey knits with the big sleeve logo like Fred C. wore, or some of the early Norman/Reebok designs, or my favorite, the pre-Tiger Nike stuff that Peter Jacobsen and Curtis Strange sported. This was my absolute favorite:

I was in GG the other day and to me the Nike pants and shirts looked like very poor quality and even cheaper than the store brand clothing. It's been several years since I've bought any Nike golf apparel.

Kirkland could make another huge splash signing big cat after introducing their irons and driver this week. Their apparel line is basically his exact fit.

In the early 2000s I played a lot of Nike clubs.  Slingshot irons for a season or two.  Really liked their wedges.  Had a variety of their drivers and woods and most were very good.  The last driver I had was a VR Tour and within a month an internal weight had come unglued inside the head.  Had a bad experience getting what should have been a simple warranty exchange and never bought another Nike golf product.  While I waited for that driver to come back I bought a Tailor Made driver and never looked back.

They have the best warranty dept, sew things right back together when damaged...
