New drivers will be PR1 and PR2 made of a Zebulon body and a special Ti face forged in the fires of Mordor. They will claim that the face is so hot that many people will think it should be illegal and considered cheating. Patrick Reed will be the first tour player to put them in the bag well because he is a *****er.

Apparently the big selling point this year is faster clubhead speed via aerodynamics. I was told TM is claiming 2-3 mph is possible.

 

What driver was it about 3 or 4 years ago that made the same claim?

 

So, TM is cycling through the aerodynamics section this time around.

I believe it was the Burner TP...which also happens to be one of the greatest drivers of all time. Bring it!

This is by far my biggest complaint about TM over the past couple years. Probably even my only complaint. I just don’t get it. Maybe they’ll give us adjustability in the bigger fairway next year........

I much prefer a glued in 3wood over the adjustable adapter ones(to each their own though). Wish TM would just dump all this twistface stuff and go back to making the original 2016 M2 3 woods! Had been gaming a tour issue head for 3.5yrs and still would be if it hadn't cracked a month ago. Best 3wood I have ever played!

Why would they stop making something that has proven to work? Also, the M6 fairway has a cult following similar to the M2 line a few years back which could be an easy replacement.

While I don't agree about glued hosels I can agree the OG M line was probably the best to come out of TM in a lonnnggg time. I routinely get 1.48 and 1.49 smash from my 3w and even the hybrid.

 

With that said, I'm really only mildly excited for this release. Hopefully looks and sound will be killer because I just don't see it being any faster than anything that's already out right now. Everybody was ranting and raving over the speedzone, and so far from what I see it's barely an improvement over F9.

If their big sell is aerodynamics for increased clubhead speed then they're doing a lot of barking.

They'd probably have to drastically alter the shape of the club on the top and bottom to really help it go through the air significantly better. With the aid of computer modeling, fluid dynamic problems are not that complex... I just can't see how they'd get more than .2 or maybe .3 faster compared to M5/M6 on swings over 110mph. Would love to see otherwise though.

I used a 2016 M2 T3 deep face for a couple of seasons, but the M5 fairway easily knocked it out of the bag. As you say, to each their own. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The way they're doing it is interesting.. In theory looks like it will work.. now will it, it's for us to test and find out. I'm sure taylormade had done their homework to bring this baby out. As for me I used to be all taylormade woods but the last few years I havent been able to put one in the bag. Needless to say I'm excited to hit this one, especially the three wood.

I’ve got a suggestion to bring back to the engineers. In your game improvement iron sets like the M5 and .M6, make the gap wedge match the rest of the set instead of making it more like as bladed wedge.

Your demographic for the iron is someone who wants some forgiveness and help with launch, but you give them a bladder gap wedge. With the jacked up lofts on most modern iron sets, I would guess that 100%of the players using GI irons use that 49/50 degree gap wedge for mostly full shots and not just touch shots around the green, so they want the design and tech that is in the rest of the set.

You guys make some great game improvement irons, just keep the set the same throughout so you don’t lose your gap wedge sales to the Cleveland CBX wedge.

Pin, you make a good point, I can say this, I have never worked around the greens with a Gap wedge, 56, 58, even 60. If anyone wants an example, and this goes towards your suggestion, look at a Srixon 785 gap or Apex CF 16 gap, (my current), I can’t stay away from that iron, great action, looks. Just my 2 cents here, sorry.

So we are going back to the AeroBurner Line which in the TP versions were absolutely incredible Drivers and Fairways........I still have both of mine as backup clubs.

Similar here, I love my DF M2 16.5, but the TI M5 gives me all of that & is WAY easier to hit off the deck.

The M5 Ti is LEGIT with the right shaft.
