I have never had or seen a hole in one...

I've been playing since I was a kid, and regularly since my late 20's ( I'm 58)

I've never had one. I've holed out from all over out to 160 yards, and I've hit the stick a few times.

I have witnessed 2, my dad had one on his 60th birthday ( His first) A Cherished memory now that he's gone.

The other was a friend who semi shanked a 7 iron that ricocheted off a tree and dribbled across the green and into the hole......LOL

Had one, elevated tee, 200 yds, lost it in the air. Was in a group twice where an ace was made. Same hole, 170 yds up hill, hump in the green, we could not see the ball go in. Have a friend who was a d1 player, never made an ace, was playing late one evening with his wife ..... and she jarred one. Bitterness and recrimination.

Saw one a couple hours ago. Waiting on the tee box on the par 3 15th, we hear a guy yell over on #4, "DID THAT GO IN!!?!?!?...IT WENT IN!!!!'. 3rd hole in one I've seen at that course, the par 3s are pretty short and easy. Have seen a couple others over the years, have 1 myself - which I didn't see go in since it was an elevated green.

I have only been playing for 4 years, but I have never had one and never seen one from my group. But ironically I have seen a double eagle on a Par 5 in my foursome, which I am told is statistically more rare.

I had only seen one HIO by someone in my group years ago on a short par 3 course, until I had my first last year. I’ve hit better shots before that have bounced off the pin or stopped a few inches away, and this one was pretty lucky. 7th hole on the Ocean Course at Half Moon Bay, 7 iron over water that was pushed a bit. The ball hit the fringe and kicked left on to the green, rolled 20 feet straight into the hole. Cool thing was a foursome with a vantage point overlooking the green were waiting in their carts for a different tee box to clear and witnessed the whole thing.

I saw the twosome in front of my group make back-to-back aces on a steep downhill par-3. I hadn't hit either shot but I could feel the energy. It was like the Earth was spinning on a whole other axis, at an entirely different speed. Total surreal euphoria. Two buzzed schmoes in town a day early for a bachelor party. What a start to their wild weekend.

My playing partner then steps up and hits it to one foot.

I felt like I was playing with house money, so I didn't even take a practice swing on my turn. I just pounced on an 8-iron and watched confidently as my ball-- imbued with apparent destiny-- sailed high and dropped rapidly 10 yards short of the green, buried in the front left bunker.

None of that good juju left for me, I guess.

25 years later, and having closely missed in every way imaginable, I'm still looking for my first ace.

15 years of playing, and I have seen 1 and only 1 full swing hole-out. No aces, eagles, albatrosses. A single 120 yard pitching wedge my opponent jarred to close an epic comeback. (My partner and I were 8 up thru 9, and went on to halve the match.)

Anyway at this point I'm a bit concerned I will never get one. I'm down to a 6 cap right now and I get there with woods and putter. Not with irons. Not to mention the par 3's at my home course are 225, 182, 186, and the shortest is 167.

I do not come close very often. I would say 1 in 10 par 3's Ill hit a shot where it 'could be' and 1 in a hundred where 'could be' lasts past the apex, and then everything literally crashes back to earth.

Lots of randomness with HIO-https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.golfdigest.com/story/you-wont-believe-how-long-tiger-woods-hole-in-one-drought-lasted-but-you-will-believe-his-ace-total/amp

Started playing in the 70s, haven't had one and saw my first about 5 years ago- well struck 8 i by a woman with multiple HIOs that landed just short of the green, bounced up and rolled in.

Two summers ago, played with a long time golfer who tells me he "eagled" the first par 3 we get to the last time he played (for his first HIO). On the next par 3, from an elevated tee, he skulls one over into the native grass. Plays another from the tee that is perfect for a 3.

I've seen four on the course while playing. Two at PGA events I went to.

I've witnessed three from friends in my group over the years. Two by my one friend and one by another. All three were ugly. One was a worm burner that included bouncing through a creek. Same guy a slicing worm burner that runs through the left sand trap pops out and rolls into the hole. The third one the guy hit it thirty yards deep into the woods on the right and we watch it come out of the woods, roll down the hill and roll across the green into the hole.

I was playing along side a par three green and I saw one of the guys playing the hole hit the flag stick and the ball go straight down into the hole. The guy thought he had hit the stick and the ball went into the pond. I heard him cussing so I yelled over to him to tell him he had just got a hole in one.

I've come close about a 1/2 dozen times over the years but haven't pulled it off. I had lip outs, balls hanging on the edge and one on the fly land in the hole only to bounce back out and end up in a pond.

My claim to fame is I holed out from 200 yds on a par 4 for eagle.

Took me about 25. Had seen one either. Talk on tee was about hio. Everyone in group had at least one and had seen another - me I said no and no. 160 yarder with back pin and bad stuff if you go long - so I clubbed down to 8i to be safe - never saw it go in ( it was pretty much into the sun) - landed about 10 feet in front of hole based on ball mark. It was a pretty draw. Cost me about $50 in beers in the clubhouse.

I have played golf for 45 years and have never had a hole-in-one, nor have seen it happen. Like every other golfer so many close encounters but none have dropped which makes it amazing. Personally, I have holed out from the fairway probably five or seven times from 100 to 180 yards, which is probably more difficult than a hole-in-one that had been teed up. Getting a hole-in-one is sort of a sacred thing amongst golfers and if it happens it does, but if it doesn't oh well.

I have played 38 years, been within a foot a few times, had one stop 2 inches short 2 weeks ago...., then watched a buddy of mine’s wife dunk one yesterday in a 4 person, she has been playing golf for 3 weeks

Came this close last Monday.

3a874657-e1b7-4be5-95ea-1c5d6e2a8c83.jpegLower cut that landed on the front left edge and tracked right at the cup.

This is looking back down towards the tee box. Green slopes back to front, so how this didn’t go in is a mystery to me.

I was having a horrible round, so I just picked up my tee and started walking. Was playing with one other guy who kept saying what a nice ball it was. When we got to the green we were floored. He said he’d never seen or had one in 30+ years. I’m only six in, and don’t have one on a regulation hole. Did flop in one on a short course.

I have seen 2 in the last 5 years. My own 212 4 iron and my wife's 140 7i. I also saw my dad hit one when I was a kid at a pitch and putt. I have also flown 2 into the cup but they didn't stay in. I have never seen an albatross but last summer I rattled the stick and the ball was sitting on the edge. Pretty bummed.

I played with an old guy a few years back who had 3 on the same par 4! He never saw 1 go in. He had 9 total.

I have 2, but I still have technically never witnessed one, because I did not see the ball actually go in the hole on either of them. My first was on a par 3 where there is a bit of a hill that obscures the surface of the green from view from the tee. I could tell it flew right into the hole based on the chunk that was taken out of the edge of the cup. My second was a couple of weeks ago on a hole where the hole was cut in a little valley on the green. We were playing through a group of 4 women who were up next to the green, and I hit it right at the flag, it landed just short of the hill and rolled out of view, and right after that they went nuts and yelled that it had gone in, but I couldn't actually see it drop. I've also never witnessed one made by anyone I've been playing with.

This will frustrate everyone here i'm sure. When my wife got hers I was speaking with the proshop guy after asking if they did a plaque or anything. He told a me a story.

Paraphrased he said "I've been golfing my whole life and have never had a HI1. He was teaching his GF how to play. They only ever hit the range. finally she got fed up with the range and wanted to play on the course. They get to a 90 yard par 3 and she pulls driver because she sucks (his words not mine). Fires a worm burner that goes skipping down the fairway, hits the sticks and drops. She looks at him and said "This game is easy""

He said he was furious. I just laughed at him.

I have been playing golf for 4 years now. Got my first HIO 5 months after I started and my 2nd HIO 9 months later. I was too busy looking for my tee I missed my first one, but I did watch my 2nd drop in the hole. It’s been a dry spell since then. I go for the flag on every single Par 3s. I play about 180 rounds a season.
