Evnroll Putters-- Amazing!!!

Recommended Posts

Concerning the lack of use of these putters by touring pros: Wait and see. They will start showing up, probably on the Champions tour or the Web.com first. From what I heard, Poulter tried one.

Didn't Ian hate it so much he gave it away to someone in the crowd?

Possibly, I had not heard that story. I was not aware that he even used it in competition. I had heard that he just tried it out.

I have had the ER2 in play for some time now, and I am having some of my best putting in rounds now, thank you Guerin Rife.

The distance control and accuracy of this putter in my hands can not be understated. Very impressive, have had other players

Ask to see this putter when I play.

I assume that somebody here has swapped out the factory grip for something else. Thoughts on doing so? I'm not so sure that I'm crazy about the counterweighted grip and would like to try something else. At the same time however, it doesn't look like you can buy a replacement grip off their website either so it's a bit of a gamble. Anybody know of a source?

Seems to me the big advantage of this putter is distance control on off center hits. My guess is, is that pros aren't very concerned about off center hits, especially with putting. I mean these guys wear out the sweetspot on 3 irons, I don't think hitting the ball an inch off the putter sweet spot is a common occurrence on tour.

That being said, I demo'd one the other day and really liked it. I don't know if I putted any better with it than my Odyssey though...I'm not a great ball striker but I'm pretty good at puring putts.

My stock grip came off easily with air with no tape left inside. I installed a Superstroke 5.0 and have liked it so far but that grip is almost the same total weight as the stock. I’m also tempted to through a lighter one on to see how it does.

I too thought the same thing about pros being able to hit the center of the clubface but if you pull up one of the videos on YouTube of this putter he gives a demonstration in the evnroll facility in San Diego of having 2 small magnets on each side of the sweet spot. If you miss those magnets you hit the ball right in the center on The Sweet Spot. He said the majority of tour Pros that come in there to see him make about 2 out of 10 in the sweet spot and dont hit those magnets on either side. Its pretty eye opening actually.

You can buy a replacement grip from them. I did so by sending a question through their contact us section on the website. I have an ER1.1 and it had the old stock grip on it. I wanted the new pistol style grip that was around the same weight so it didn't make the putter feel even heavier. I think I paid around $15 shipped for the pistol style grip and they told me it was around $25 for the original stock grip.

I tried to get my grip off with air and had no luck so I had to cut it off.

I apologise in advance if that has been touched on already in this thread.

I am not saying that any equipment I use must be tour proven but does anyone in the worlds top 200 use one of these putters? Many tour pros are not contracted to use a specific putter and as a result, you see many of them using Odyssey, PING, Scotty Cameron, Taylormade, Cleveland, Bettinardi, Seemore, Edel etc putters. I am making this point as I feel that it negates any they are being paid to use this putter argument.

The MGS testing has also stated that they have performed very well the last 2 years. I just find it strange that not many on an elite level are gravitating towards them. I also do not buy the argument that these will be more suited to amateurs cause we hit the sweet spot less much less than pros. All the putters companies claim now that their technology compensates for mishits.

I think they look great and they do not feel bad but I am struggling to buy into the hype.

Harry

Pro Tour usage is determined by one thing, money. Many, maybe most, tour players won't use anything without being compensated for said use. The examples such as Duff Daddy using irons from National Custom Works are few and far between.

TM drivers? Money. Titleist golf balls? Money. Footjoy shoes? Money. Cameron putters? Yep, money.

Never pay attention to tour usage to validate a club. The only thing it validates is the depth of that company's endorsement budget.

I totally get how endorsements work but surely a lot of players use a putter other than from who they are sponsored by? A few of many examples that I could state are Rickie Fowler is sponsored by Cobra yet he uses a Scotty, Finau is sponsored by PING but he uses a Piretti, DJ every so often still uses his Scotty, Webb Simpson is sponsored by Titleist but he uses an Odyssey putter. Surely the examples I have given are not paid to play those putters? If that is the case, that is why I am surprised that I do not see more Evnroll putters on the main tours.

You should be able to call Evnroll and purchase an OEM grip.

I placed a 24g counterweight in the end of the shaft then installed a SuperStroke Flatso 1.0. Allowed me to maintain roughly the same weighting as stock.

The last I paid attention to such things, Titleist was paying golfers to use Cameron putters on a weekly basis. Not unlike TM's tee money on the driver front.

I can't speak to Piretti, or even Odyssey, no knowledge on money around those.

Its interedting, though, we're talking about a small percentage. The vast majority of the tour go pay for play. On virtually everything.

As to why PGA tour pros don't used them that much, my opinion is as follows. The putter grooves are designed to reduce ball speed on center hits to help make impact across the face more consistent. Tour pros are very particular about ball speed coming off the putter and the slower speed of the Evnroll probably doesn't appeal to them since they don't want to have to change their stroke to hit the ball a particular distance.

I apologise in advance if that has been touched on already in this thread.

Many of the club endorsement contracts stipulate X number of clubs, could be 13, 12, 11, 10 - it doesn't have to be all 14 clubs to sign a deal for premier players especially. Many tour pros have separate endorsement deals for their putter and/or they have a couple odd favorite clubs they just won't part with.

As someone noted earlier, Evnroll isn't on tour because they don't offer endorsement money. The only way you'll see one on tour is a player who has a limited or no club endorsement deal. Someone claimed earlier that Brian Harman was using an ER9 but I couldn't confirm that anywhere.

I kind of hate to say this, because their customer service was non-existent and pissed me off 3 times...BUT...to give credit where it is due...I have never putted anything better than my ER7. Bought sight unseen, with no local shops carrying them, like many others on here.

The distance control is unreal, and I happen to line it up better than anything else. Ever.

Mishits are better.

I'm well aware of honeymoon phases, so let's just wait and see. But, WOW so far.

Haven't had to deal with customer service recently, but when I did, Travis was great. Sounds like they could really use another body in there now that demand seems to be picking up. Hope they get it sorted out.
