Golfing with women who aren't your spouse?

I received an invitation to go golfing with our former real estate agent this week (bought a house with her help about 2 months ago). Strictly on a professional basis. She's a member at a nice course I've been wanting to try, so when she offered I gladly accepted.

 

Then I got to thinking about it, and although there are no "sneaky" intentions on my part - my wife could see it otherwise.

 

I'm strongly considering going, and just not telling her. It's harmless, and I know she'd overreact.

 

What would you guys do?

 

I noticed you neglected to mention whether or not you find the real estate agent attractive.

 

I am going to assume you do otherwise you would not be asking.

 

I would probably go myself but, the real answer to whether or not you should go is based on if you trust yourself and your wife trusts you.

 

Is she the jealous type? Is she going to stew about it? My wife would probably joke about it and forget it within a day but, that is her. In fact she would insist I go because she knows I would have fun.

 

It's really impossible for anyone to say what you personally should do since we don't know how your wife would react.

You HAVE to tell your wife about the invite. See what she says. If there is even a hint of disapproval, don't go. You'd probably be better off not going anyhow. Just how I see it. If the agent was an old lady, then missus wouldn't care. If she is hot, and you're a young stud, (or your wife thinks you're a hot stud), don't go.

Absolutely, no good can come from playing golf with the hot real estate agent. Even innocently.

 

What I'd do. Tell the wife about the invite, just excuse yourself from the invite. Hide under the bed, whatever it takes. Golf is not worth it.

Whats odd about your question; you're tell us she may be concerned about your intentions.. you're even concerned readers here may misinterpret your intentions with the women. Paranoid for no reason or could there be history...hum. Either way, tell her and deal with it.

Yep, NOT until she runs into a friend that has a friend that knows that women and the woman mentioned her golf game with so and so's husband. Course the RE woman may show up at the house too, and innocently bring their game up.

Just kidding. One useful exercise for most is to ask yourself if you would feel threatened if the shoes were swapped? No offense intended, I'm certainly not in the world's best marriage, but I can honestly say that neither my wife nor I would bat an eye over something like this. If our marriage ends it won't be because of cheating.

If you're going to be part of a foursome that the realtor has put together, that might make the round much easier to explain*. If it's just going to be you and the realtor, then I can't imagine anyone's wife thinking it's an awesome idea.

First question is why is she asking you? Second is why would you not tell your wife? Keep things open and honest. If this were me and my wife did not feel comfortable, I'd pass. Also, someone may see you and start rumors (which is wrong but happens) and this gets back to you wife. Your loyalty is to your wife and the real estate agent.

B, I'd leave your fate up to the wife. get out ahead of this, tell her you got the invite, AND tell her who you are going with. if the wifey gives you the "are you crazy?" face then you are going to have to sell it to her harder. let her know this is an impossibly difficult course to get on and see if she buys it.

 

it would be just you luck you don't tell you wife and somebody, anybody, spots you with the realtor playing golf together at the club and it somehow gets back to your wife thru the rumor mill. at that point you can chalk yourself to be being 100% Grade A screwed.

There are a few ways this will work out fine, and a whole bunch more that can be a disaster. Start out with full disclosure to your wife, and let her reactions, and your ability to read between the lines on what she says, guide your decisions.

I would just bring it up. If she is like my wife she will say "Okay whatever" then about 3 weeks later when that time of the month hits she will get pissed at you for no reason and bring it up. Just smile, tell her you love her and walk away, go do some yard work or something.

Is it just you two going out to golf, or will there be other people along in the group (assuming they're not other attractive females)? I think joining along in a foursome of the hot realtor with 2 other dudes is a much easier sell than just you and her playing alone together.
