you can be 'in control' and still be swinging in an entirely incorrect way. Honestly unless you've had some excellent instruction and you're a very quick study, its very likely you do swing in an entirely incorrect way.. and if you succeed in speeding it up, you are going to find it much harder to make adjustments.

Just a heads up really. I feel speeding up your swing is something for a better player to work on when he has a good technical understanding and is looking for an edge. I think its as likely to wreck a higher handicap as make him improve.. Id be interested in other  opinions

Considering myself as an example.

1) I have a self taught, less than ideal golf swing (to put it lightly)

2) I also self taught myself to go from about 105 mph swing speed with a driver to 125+ (this is full rips)

3) I now have the ability to do what I like to call a swinging bunt, and still get it out there 270+ with better control than I ever had.

4) Moral of the story.  Everyone is different but there is potential merit to teaching your body speed despite your swing flaws.  For many, the swing will always be flawed and arguably there is no perfect swing.  The way I swing prevents injury compared to others but it may also prevent pin point accuracy off the tee.  I am fine with that trade off.

If Phil Mickelson were a WRX'er and not a top 10 golfer of all time he'd get roasted, by posters and instructors alike, for his swing.  His swing is not bad (go see top 10 of all time again), but you can see there are some "flaws" that require some good athletic hands, timing to hit it well.  He's doing ok AND he sped up those "bad" moves...

Anyone have issues with SS swings causing back pain? Is this a sequencing issue and I’m doing something wrong? It’s either that or hitting off mats.

If you are talking about the SSG protocols, LOTS of people have experienced back pain.  I think most, if not all, TPI type PT guys would tell you that the SSG protocols involve way, way more swings than are needed for whatever gains are available from speed training.

Put the heavy stick AND the light stick in the hall closet, and just swing the blue stick, or even just an old driver if you have one on hand, and do some reading about the optimal number of reps at top speed.  You'll get the same gains IF there are gains to be had (there aren't for everybody) and really cut down on the chance of injury.

I'd urge everyone to think twice about following a speed training regimen from a company that makes their money by selling sticks, but  gives away training protocols.

Yep.  LOL I did try to follow the speed stick protocols with my home made speed sticks a while back and realized very quickly that I could not come close to doing them physically.  LOL of course I am a bit older.  I have found that I can maintain the little bit of speed that I have left with very little overspeed training.  I do more slow swings with a really heavy 'club' to try to maintain my strength along with a pathetic bit of weight training.

You know I believe that the first mention of over speed training that I ever heard was something that I read about Ben Hogan.  He said something to the effect that while practicing he would swing his driver as fast as he could for some number of swings (10 I think) and he would not worry about where the ball was going.  Doing this would increase his swing speed on his normal effort shots.  Hogan was a very smart guy...

I agree. I am using a different trainer (max swing speed).  Same premise but 5 diff weights. You can see the protocols on website for them. Only doing dominant side swings as recommended by Mike Carol. Had a gain from 98 to 109 just doing normal swings with the trainer for 5 weeks. I get to the SS protocols and then it’s too much on my back. I can cut down on those reps for sure and use less weight.

Anyone used the Speed sticks + the C stick + the pedal at the same time?  Just bought the main set and will probably buy the other 2 things also. Just not sure if I can do them all at once or if I am supposed to use the main sticks for 6-8 weeks first?  Sorry if it’s a stupid question.

Im currently on protocol 3. week 19 and have only used the sticks nothing else and have made really good gains. My results for protocols 1&2 are on page 118 of this thread if you want to take a look.

id be interested in people thoughts on the C and force pedals who have used them.

Update to my training numbers. After a stall, speed is creeping up again. Speed after a speed training session is still way faster than speed at random practice. Hope that these numbers will merge. I have increased my goal of 105 to 108 mph on course.

Anyone else struggle to get the green and blue sticks up to speed? I used the system for a winter a couple years ago but with covid and the closure of the practice facility I was at I did not use it leading into the season this year. Started it up at the beginning of the off season and have been doing it 3 times a week for the past month or so. Worked my way up to 137 Green (struggling to get it over 131 the past few sessions) 131 Blue and 127 Red. Does anyone else find that there Green and Blue sticks tend to bunch up numbers wise?

Very nice 👍👍👍 THANKS for sharing

I see some folks here whine about no stats to prove these sticks work etc but this is pretty darn good.

I'm just starting myself, having had the sticks for 2 years - never got around to it. But now, I am looking forward to using it & hopefully, see some improvements.

I am losing some speed in the last few sessions. I think training in my unheated, with no insulation of the roof garage is a problem. Temperature has been hovering in the low 60s. The garage is huge, I don't know if a spot heater is good enough but I will try next time. I just feel more stiff than before when temperature was in the 70s and 80s. Anyone else having swing speed drops when it gets colder?

Definitely. I was 5 mph slower on a cold day than I was 2 days prior in temp control.

Does anyone else have trouble reaching their driver clubhead speed with the SS sticks? I've been measured on Trackman, a different simulator, and my swing speed radar at 105 mph. The maximum I've hit with the green stick is 102, but typically I'm between 96-99. With the blue stick I'm 91-93 and with red 86-87.

I've done this before workouts, on non-workout days, morning, evening, doesn't seem to make a difference. Haven't really noticed any change in my actual driver clubhead speed.

Am I doing something wrong? I do warm up, and I swing as fast as I can without a lot of concern about technique.

I have a friend who seems to be the same way though I only had him swing the light stick one evening.  He swung it at the same speed as his driver swing.  He is a decent player and swings around 90 mph regardless of what he is swinging.  Really interesting that you seem to be the same way and you that you don't seem to change over time.  I assumed that if my friend practiced he would get faster...  My friend does swing in a very controlled manner with a slow backswing and measured through swing, I wonder if you are similar?

Got the swing speed radar and sticks for Christmas. Took the radar out to the range yesterday just to mess around and noticed the speeds with a driver when hitting a ball were way off.   Seemed to be more accurate when swinging with no ball. Was curious if that was a typical issue. Looking forward to getting started.

Define accurate...

The radar picks up the clubhead. You usually see faster speeds with a driver when you hit a ball. As long as the batteries in the radar are good, it'll be accurate.

If the radar is not setup correctly it will pick up the ball instead of the clubhead which should give just a bit higher speed.  LOL I had that happen with my old Beltronics unit until I read the directions and figured out how to set it up properly...

Just hit a new record of 144 with the blue stick and averaged 140 mph over a 5 swing set with the blue. Pretty pumped. Swing speed radar measured, not the most accurate device, but hopefully accurate to itself within reason.

That's moving it. What are you getting out of driver?

Has anyone compared Superspeed sticks to the Stack System? I was researching between the two and my in laws went and surprised me with the stack system for Christmas.

I understand the difference in hardware, but is there a huge difference in the protocols/workouts between the two? May not be fully sold on the stack

It was picking up speeds of up to 144.  I wish I could hit that speed but definitely not within the realm.  Set up is pretty self explanatory - 10 inches in front of the ball.

Re-read the manual and I wasn't angling the radar towards the ball.  I had it just straight on.  Perhaps that is my issue so will give that a shot next go round.

ive done both the SuperSpeed and the Stack, the SuperSpeed is a longer workout and i actually had better initial results with the SuperSpeed.   I am currently about 32 sessions deep in the Stack System, it has less exercises and is simple to do.  I hit a huge wall with stack but it appears to be partly due to weather, i live on the west coast and am used to 75-90* temps, when the temp dipped to 45*, my body slowed down a great deal.

* I think Super Speed has the best protocol and Stack has the best app user interface and Rypstick has the best actual equipment to swing,

This is good information, thank you. Guess I’ll stick with the stack for now, wonder if I can access the superspeed protocols and just use the stack stick I have to mimic the multiple SS sticks. Something I’ll think about if stack doesn’t work out. Thanks again
