Rory quits Twitter after exchange with Elkington

Just because he didn't like what someone said about him... lol. He passes off his phone to his wife because he's unable to manage himself. Ever since he ended in court with his friend and manager, haven't been impressed by Rory... Still not.

I'm a nobody, but I got rid of Facebook years ago and never have Twitter or Instagramed or Snapchatted or otherwise.

That's awesome for you to have made a choice that you're content with.

 

I follow golfers, golf brands, etc. on Twitter and Instagram and get a great deal of information and enjoyment from it. I don't post that often, but I really enjoy the access those accounts provide and I hope a few internet bullies don't ruin that for me and the many others who do enjoy social media.

Seems like Rory just realized what many others need to-- Social media is a vast wasteland of mostly useless information, often from attention craving and sometimes mean spirited people. Reading and responding can be addictive and it's certainly a huge waste of time.

I'm generally embarrassed for any adult male who resorts to 'tweeting', especially to punch/counter-punch.

 

That said, I consider Rory to be one of the more genuine, forthcoming, articulate, and also willing to own-up to his BS guys on Tour, at least among those that receive comparable media coverage.

 

I suspect his parents are wonderful human beings.

Can i play the devil's advocate here? Elks tweet was after rory missed the cut at erin hills and if you watched it, he wasnt wrong. He showed no interest at all. Watch the replay and listen to the commentators comment how they've "never seen rory play so fast", they must have said it 5 times. He didnt care less, he just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. At least Jason day was grinding trying to stay in it, rory was just walk up and hit it, every shot, didnt give a rip.

Only reason elk can stay relevant is start these kinds of riots. He's got an amazing swing and almost unrivaled passion for golf, too bad his level of a**holeness is on par with both.

For me, it's all the more disappointing that it's a spat with Elkington that has resulted in this.

 

My knowledge of the guy on twitter is that he made a joke about about a helicopter crashing into a building in Scotland. He used a racial slur to describe an incident which took place when he was at the Senior Open at Birkdale. He made a homophobic joke about a young American footballer. There are more.

 

I get the adage - twitter is for twits could be said to apply but Elkington is more than a twit. He is a hateful, chauvinist desperate for the attention of the world sadly the only time he is ever deserving of attention is when he puts his foot into his large mouth. Would have loved Rory to have really gone to town on him...maybe when he gets his password back!
