Frankie looks to be testing a new TM driver...

From the top, that looks like his M4

Definitely 100% his M4

silver top is too thin to be M4.

It's his M4. The appearance is a trick of perspective. The club is back behind him and the face is angled away in such a way that you're not looking straight down on the top of the crown. That means we aren't seeing the all of the silver portion. Also, the angles of the silver portion match what we see with the M3/M4.

A quick recreation shows this.

TaylorMade Qi10 LS 9.0, Ventus TR Blue 6X, 45.5"

TaylorMade 300 Mini Blackout 13.5, Ventus Black 7X, 43"

TaylorMade Stealth2 Plus 4 (16.5), Ventus TR Red 7X, 42.5"

TaylorMade P770 3 (2023), DG X100 (SSx2)

TaylorMade P7MC Raw 4-PW, DG Mid X100 (SSx1)
TaylorMade MG Raw 52, DG S400

Titleist SM9 58T, DG S400
Scotty Cameron Oil Can Newport, 34"
TaylorMade TP5x (2024)

The silver lining on the M5/M6 stays straight from heel to toe and rounds off at the corners. Look closely.

Will any of this new tech prevent the TaylorMade woods from caving in or the tops exploding off. Brooke's Koepka wants to know. He busted 3 this year and 1 on TV. I caved in every TM wood I've ever owned. Great tech, super cheap materials and construction. Speed foam was the answer to all M irons faces caving in. I work for a retailer and guess what comes in broken every day. Check out ant TM drivers that have been hit a bit on the face on the toe section, you'll feel a dip there. Totally unreliable. I'd like to see actual numbers from TM on how many come back. Never seen a jailbreak head cave in, plus they're better anyway. Maybe if TM concentrated on how to construct a club rather than steal others ideas they'd last. Twist face, slot tech, carbon crowns, speed foam, face inserts. Just ask Cobra, Wilson, Cobra, PXG, and Orlimar. They originally came up with all those ideas first. 8 years ago, 30 years ago, 15 years ago , 3 years ago, and 20 years ago. M5/6, double face with resin behind it. Ask KZG how the feel about them biting off the Gemini driver. Look all that up it's not a lie.

If you look closely at the shape of the silver, Molinari's club has distinct angles to it like the M4. I don't think he's swinging the M5/6 in that pic.

Is the m5 the titanium fairway wood??

Yes:)

Awesome. Hope it sits good and the lie angle isn't too upright. Looking to replace my m2 tour that I've had for awhile. Nothing has been able to do this yet. I have faith it's either this or the new epic flash.

Just heard from someone in the know that the head is very small on the m5 titanium wood. I have never seen or heard of a smaller her Titanium fairway wood, I'm sure it works but definitely different.

I hope the size is identical to the R7 TP fwy of yesteryear. I prefer a more compact look in my driver and fwys.

If it’s too compact then count me out. I like small headed drivers and large headed fairways.

Makes no sense to go titanium and smaller head size. The Tour version of the M2/M4 have a cult following but aren’t the best choice for most golfers.

The M2 tour was best head TM has produced IMO. I have played one for past couple years with my shaft of choice. It sits open so higher handicaps who like upright closed faces and light shafts won't like it, but better players loved it.

My major concern is carbon fiber on the bottom. Saw tons of drivers crack like that.

Other than someone tomahawking it into the ground after a bad shot, how would that happen?

I saw it on multiple Callaway Epic drivers, including one with a tee impaled in the bottom (plus handicap player, and a normal strike.). Usually, but not always, where the metal meets carbon fiber.

Holy crap. I can't even begin to guess how that would happen, especially if it actually looked how I'm envisioning it in my head.

Does this help? :)

I've seen this twice in one round by a very good player.

I didn’t see it as compact at all. Good size footprint. Definitely bigger than M3.

Thanks! THAT is music to my ears! The M3 isn't small but it is smaller than I'd prefer.

I am a tad baffled as to the excitement about titanium fairway woods. To my knowledge they have all been sales flops and had zero tour presence.

R7tp is a cult classic. We are all just hoping for a repeat of such. That club is legit legendary

TM hasn’t made a titanium fairway as a primary release in a long time. We’re just optimistic dude. Tour presence is a fickle matter anyways. You see no tour Edge cbx in play on pga and it’s an absolute beast on champions tour.

I said it in the 280cc driver thread. Can we just let people be optimistic about something. It’s already tough enough to feel good these days

I agree. I don’t think the non titanium tour versions ie m1 or m3 were selling like hot cakes anyways so they are going to try something new and charge more which is fine by me.

I think the use of titanium, rather than steel, is to lighten the head so that they can then have a 65g moveable weight.

Mizuno has had several models of Ti fairways with no moveable weights. If Ti was such a big deal, why not grab an older Mizuno for under $70?
