Just to appease the people who fired him from the Golf Channel and Sirius Radio. The penalties don't fit the infraction, if it is really even considered an infraction. The thought police strikes again. They are like Godzilla destroying things in their path.

I never cared much for HH, and I don't care much for what he said (I have a friend on the LPGA Tour, and her family is from Laos), but I don't think he should have to walk the plank either. I am waiting for someone to come out with a 365 day calendar: "What to be Offended By Today."

Besides, is Haney that all powerful that his statements shake the golf world to its roots? I think not.

Haney waits to catch the big post-PC news cycle, lol, that almost nobody will pay attention to after a couple more days. He still defines his own relevance by Tiger Woods. Even with the book, tons of folks out there will hear this and say, "Hank who?" because in relative terms almost nobody heard him on the radio.

FYI, from the original statement from Sirius/XM: "At the PGA Tour’s instruction, Mr. Haney has been suspended from the SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio channel. SiriusXM is reviewing his status on SiriusXM going forward.”

So I think it's a safe bet, as a couple of us have suggested, PGA Tour likely had the contractual right to direct his suspension - will be interesting if PGA Tour ever releases any of the language from its rights agreement with Sirius/SM. As for the termination, maybe the same right, maybe for certain causes, maybe not.

But when I say it's interesting it's purely from an academic point of view, don't care much about Haney. In fairness though, when he saw it blowing up during the show he was quick to apologize and seemed to realize he'd goofed and seemed sincere about it.

Seriously, I have lived in two different Asian countries and multiple Chinese friends, I speak Mandarin Chinese and not one person I have spoken to about this was offended. He called it, it was an easy bet based on demographics and top performers. I agree with others he was tone deaf a bit and came off as he didn’t care. I find those acceptable. I am not and will not be embarrassed by asking the question.. “why were so many offended”. That’s an honest inquiring question not fueled by emotion as so many triggered questions and outraged typically are.

If I was wrong, I apologize. However, if you go to www.pgatour.com, you'll see a link to the LPGA along with links to the Korn Ferry Tour, the PGA Champions Tour, and a few other associated tours. The PGA Tour certainly has a significant relationship with the LPGA Tour.

Nothing to apologize for sir, you are the source of more good info on here than just about anybody! They have some sort of agreement (which is really the Tour helping them out) to promote each other and try and coordinate scheduling and such, but steadfastly separate.

Actually, there is a strategic relationship in place between the PGA and LPGA. The PGA is actively supporting them in all digital and media effort which is how it's tied into this.

I have zero insight, but I feel that Hank will get paid. That is the way of things. it is easier for the PGA to throw some money at him to shut him up. While it is a completely different and separate issue, I think of Kevin Nah and how he paid off that girl that was claiming to be a former fiance. He just wanted the noise gone.

I agree, he shouldn't have to walk the plank. I found it a little odd that he basically couldn't be bothered to learn a thing about the LPGA outside of the largely Asian dominance of late. Just coming out and saying "I don't really know enough about the event this week" and moving on would have been a more more reasonable answer, at least for me.

Also, I have been working on this type of calendar, but the issue is there are just SO MANY things to be offended by that it has become a real struggle to get it down to just a single year. I suppose that means we can go on for years to come, as well as being offended by the number, so we have that going for us, which is nice.

Na (not Nah, as the original post said) paid off his former fiance for damages to her reputation by the calling off of his wedding. It was actually a pretty big deal for a while for him as he said it cast a pretty big cloud over him in Korea. It's similar to how many of these kinds of suits play out, people find it's easier to just give some number of dollars to the person, make them sign something that says they will never talk about it again, and move on. That will, depending on what the wording in his contract with his radio show said, likely be what happens here with HH.
