I have a set of i210 on order that are not due to ship until mid-Feb.  I am thinking I may cancel them.  I am so conflicted.  Have been waiting for iBlade replacement and i210 replacement.  If the i59 is real, how far in advance of it actually being available do you think we will see it?

So you ordered your set mid November then?

The odds are really good that if it follows the kind of timeline the Blueprint did, you're looking at May-June. We saw first pics of BP in January, and the first orders were filled in June. Got mine in July and ordered Day 1, but I had extra shipping of course.

Add the Covid backlog, and you may want to be patient. It's fully possible that these are not going to be consumer-available as quickly as other models, and they may be Aus-NZ first again. Probably drives you guys nuts that I ignore the 425s every time I walk in my pro shop. My 410 is so dialled in, but the 425 is def sexy.

Get your i210s. Consider 59's a next-year thing and you'll be right.

Ping-logo-283444624.jpeg 410LST 9º (TourX) RogueST 3D (ADDI 6X) [OMG what?], 425 3w 14.5º (TourX), 430 3h 19º & 4 iCross (HZRDUS Red 6.0), i230 5-U, G4 54º, GFP 59º (DART105F4). 2021 Fetch (BGT Tour Black).

"Golf is just a dance with a stick, and a ball tells you how good a dancer you are."  LCP150mm in your fairway should be a full-time rule.

Thanks for the insight.  I am currently gaming 2016 Apex Pro and ready for a change.

Any idea why they are taking so long and the other models aren't?

I think lots of companies paused things, maybe had temporary furloughs, or didn't have access to their lab equipment during the quarantine? Given any factors like that, which may have happened, it could add up to releases being slightly different in 2021?

Just bought a PLD putter off the Classifieds. Already have G410 woods.  Mizuno HMP may be on the way out of the bag for either the 210 or 500 replacements.  Ping IMO is underrated.

Yeah PING spends their money on engineering and design. TM and Callaway just pump money into marketing like there's no tomorrow and so many golfers just eat it up. What PLD putter did you buy?

I'm assuming you've worked for TM, Callaway and PING with a statement like that. I disagree. I will say that TM and Callaway have incredible marketing talent and put forth a much more valiant effort than that of Ping in that field.

Haha you act as if those two companies don’t have a world class R&D dept. as well. Do they heavily advertise and pump out extravagant marketing campaigns... yes. But then again so does Apple. Think that’s a really silly comment given that which OEM’s stick will provide the best result would essentially just come down to the way each individual person delivers the club to impact. Each one of them has top of the line products with the data to support it.

TaylorMade MG3 50º, 55º, 60º Hi Toe  | Dynamic Gold X7

In the FWIW department.  A few years ago I had a personal conversation with the vice-president of TaylorMade R & D.  The R&D budget, at that time, was 29 million$.  The marketing budget was 110 million $.  Marketing rules.

Those numbers make a HUGE statement as to what TM thinks is most important.

I mean that is a way to do business.  It’s worked for Nike with the Jordan brand.  Jordan’s aren’t going to make you jump higher or play better than any other shoe but the marketing department has made people think they have to have them.  Kind of what launch monitors have done to golf.  You could hit every fairway with your old driver but a fancy new one gives you 2 more yards so you buy it and then your scores get worse because you can’t find the fairway as often.  But the company marketed it as speed this and distance that.

And that’s exactly how it should be. You can make the best clubs on the planet, but if you can’t market them properly, it doesn’t matter. As for many manufacturers, there’s no doubting the performance and quality of TM...the numbers and tour representation back that up.

Eh, TM clubs are IMO much poorer quality than almost any other major OEM (maybe just above Cobra). I just think they spend so much on design and marketing that they cheap out on little details like paint, glue, finishing, stock grip, stock shafts, etc. Just my opinion, but most TM clubs I have owned in the last 10 years seem to wear much faster than others, like after a round or two, and a couple of range sessions, they look like they've been through half a season. I believe that their marketing allows them to charge premium prices and allows them to get away with cutting corners on quality. Also, why have higher quality paint/finishes when they come out with new clubs every year, the wear on the club will make a consumer want to upgrade that much more. Performance is almost never an issue, though, and their clubs look great. PING clubs used to be bullet proof and you could own the irons for decades, and even though that is not as much the case these days, I still rank PING and Titleist as tied for best quality components. Maybe I am crazy, but that is how I see it. I currently own two TM clubs and almost always have something of theirs in the bag, but cringe at paying full price for them (even though sometimes I still do). I buy PING clubs with no question in my mind that I am getting something nice.

But would you say these things dramatically affect performance? Year in an year out, TM clubs are among the highest performing irons available. I’m not arguing durability...I don’t own the same set of irons for 10 years anyway. Btw, I game PXG Gen3 0311Ps and TM P790’s and love them both, so I’m not a TM fanboy.
