Srixon Q-Star Tour Divide - new "50/50" matte balls

Saw these today. Defo buying a couple of sleeves for putting practice.

I only tried a sleeve of the QST Divide but I didn't like using the color separation as an alignment aid.  A shorter and thicker line (even if it's just the model name on the seam with arrows on either end) gives me more confidence in the line than trying figure out if the ball is set down just perfectly based on the visible color on each side.  Other folks seem to really like it for alignment though.

I volunteered at a Drive, Chip, and Putt qualifier today, and one kid putted with these balls. On one putt, he placed the line where the colors rolled over each other, and it was a crazy look.

I did like that end over end look, especially on short chips and flop shots where it makes the spin you put on the ball very apparent.

Does the Srixon Divide model ball conform to the USGA Rules of Golf? I could not find it on a conforming list here:

https://www.usga.org/ConformingGolfBall/gball_list.pdf

My recollection is that the two tone Ping balls from the 1970's and 80's did not conform to the Rules.

Srixon H65  19* 3 hybrid and 22* 4 hybrid

I've been playing QST almost exclusively for the past several years. I bought 2 doz Blue/Yellow on a half price Father's Day sale.  I like the feel, but they do feel a bit softer than regular white QST on all clubs ( whether that's "in my head" or not, feel matters in golf, or at least it does to me).

Negatives:

1. They  pick up more dirt and debris than the regular white.  I've read this is common to matte finish balls; this is my first time using one.

2. As others have remarked, they are  a PITA seeing/finding in the rough, sometimes just on the fairway if the blue side is facing.  I've also lost a Divide ball a couple of times in places where I, and my playing partners, figure  a stray balls would likely have been spotted.

3. Plus, pace of play is a big deal in my two golf leagues here, especially the one that plays on Parks Board courses.  Spending extra time looking for balls isn't helpful to course relations or a relaxed pace to keep up.

One of my playing partners (a friend) told me yesterday that I shouldn't be playing these as they are just too hard to see. I agree. The dozen and a half or so I have left are going in my  shag bag. Today.

I have a few blue/yellow Q-Star and I use them to practice my putting

I have never put them in play

I did hit a few out of the trap and they do look cool when spinning like a top on the green after a good bunker shot

I received a dozen yellow/red.  Noticed the packaging doesn't mention SERM, and they have a slightly different feel to me vs. white QST when just trying 1 with the putter and bouncing off a club head.  I'll probably just exchange them for non-divide.

So they aren't matte like the QST?  Nice!

Nope, even a tad bit of pearl on the gloss finish

Paying my green fee today and noticed a blue\ yellow Srixon in the used ball jar.

Cost me $1  and not a smudge on it. Played it on the front 9 and loved it.

Pro = found out I roll putts true, aim sucks. Fun on chips around the green.

Liking matte finish balls lately, need to play Srixon ball more often.

Con = blue side up in first cut, couldn't see the darn thing at all.

That was my issue with that color, the red and yellow is much easier to see.

I played the yellow/orange on Sunday. Not hard to find at all.

As people have mentioned, they are a lot of fun around the green. Chips & putts almost have a strobe effect as the colors turn.

The most surprising thing to me is the distance I'm seeing with my driver. I'm in the 95-100mph swing speed range with a tendency to generate too much spin due to AOA. Something about this ball helps negate the excessive driver spin which has led to more distance.

Has anyone compared the QST 3 with SERM vs the Divide?  I have a dozen Divide but haven't gotten to hit them yet.  Been playing the QST as my primary ball for years, love the QST 3.

Digging the ball, it’s cool!  Very durable, been playing the same ball for 270 holes.  Ball provides enough spin for my game.  Putting wise it’s been remarkable.  Never use to align my ball but been tired of missing 5 footers and not knowing the causes i.e. stroke, speed. misread.  Alignment method shines in this area and more comfortable/confident now.

Save your meeeeellion dollars, but the Divide feeeeel softer to me on full shots and putts.  Whether that is good or bad for me is moot now as I (and playing partners) tired quickly for searching for the blue and yellow Divides I bought on a whim. Not just in the rough.

After losing a few the rest are in my shag bag.

Yeah I think the color blue should never be used on a golf ball.

I'm still playing the yellow/red version. When the red side is up they can also be hard to spot. I think full-yellow balls are easier to find.

If I were to buy more Divides tomorrow I'd probably go with the yellow/orange.

Played my blue yellow divide last time out. I didn't likes how muted they were off of the driver, but I'm also using a SIM MAX D, so that might not help. Felt/sounded good off of the irons. Distance wise I didn't feel like I was losing or gaining anything. I didn't have much problem finding them, but I got fairly lucky.

The best thing, for me, about using them is the alignment. I'm going to start using the alignment aid on all balls more often. I found it helped a lot with tee shots where you want a specific line.

Love these but need the more spin into greens that the Z line provides.
