Top Two Balls you play right now...

Pro V1s and Vice Pro so far.

Vice seems to be just as good as the ProV in limited testing, but I found a Vice Pro and played 27 holes with it before I finally threw it in a pond because of poor play, but overall I didn't hit any shot with it that I also couldn't hit with the ProV at half the cost.

Cut red has now overtaken the cut blue as my primary ball, with Callaway supersoft thrown in for when I need a high visibility ball. I find the cut red just works well for me. I would give the edge to the cut blue in regards to feel, but I can get a double dozen for around 20 with tax and it's more durable than the blue so I'll take the tradeoff (especially since it doesn't feel bad, just not as good as the blue to me.)

Been playing the Pro V1x for most of the season. Tried the new Bridgestone BX as that is what the Ballnamic program from Ping said was best and did not like it.

Got a sleeve of the new Callaway Chromesoft X's and they have not left the bag now in the past 3 rounds and will be sticking around for a while. The feel is a little softer off the face then the V1x but has had almost identical flight performance and I like the feel off the putter better.

Main ball for me right now is the Tour Speed - enjoyed the EXP-01s I managed to bag from the States and these are the production version of them. Fly long and high, feel good round the greens and have enough stopping power to be useful - I like the feel off the putter too.

My backup is still the RZN Platinum believe it or not - still have a couple of dozen left, but my swing has been a bit wild this season and I'm going through 3 - 5 balls a round, so the Plats are staying in the office for now.

Honourable mention to the Tour B XS, which is pretty much a RZN Platinum with a big B on it.

The Dee Three - Titleist TS4 9.5 deg, EvenFlow White 6.5 65g, A1 Setting

Henrik - Titleist 917 F3 15 deg, Rogue Max 75x, B2 Setting

The Walking Stick - Titleist 818 H2 19 deg, Rogue Max 85x, B2 Setting

The Interloper - TaylorMade P770 3 iron, S400 Tour Issue, +0.5inch +1 deg loft

The Blades - Nike VR Pro 4 - AW, S400 Tour Issue, +0.5 inch

The Sand Iron - TaylorMade MG2 TW-12 Grind, 56 degree, S400 Tour Issue

The Flopper - TaylorMade MG2 TW-11 Grind, 60 Degree, S400 Tour Issue

The Putter - Nike Method 003 from The Oven

I changed my primary ball from the Snell MTB to the Bridgestone Tour B RXS after trying the B RXS, B RX, and B XS, for multiple rounds each.

So lately I've played TP5, Vice Pro, Pro V1, E6, E12 Contact and Soft Response.  Best scores coming with the E6, E12 Contact, and Soft Response.  Maybe I don't need a urethane ball after all.  WTH.  It's probably a psychological (psycho?) thing as I truly love a softer feeling ball....

Tour B X and Tour BX

Swap between the two depending on course conditions. In the summer when everything is baked out and firm I take the extra spin of the XS, spring and fall I play X as the XS spins too much on soft greens for my liking.

I'll randomly test other balls but haven't found anything I like more the past few years. This year's tour b X is particularly good. Would say it's my #1.

Maxfli Tour and ProV1. Maxfli tour is superior for me in driver distance and spin on approach shots. I won’t be buying anymore ProV1. At this point Maxfli tour is untouchable, factor in the incredible price and your stoned or stupid for playing ProV1.

I wish Maxfli would make their yellow ball more available.  My old eyes struggle with white golf balls.

I made a thread about this a while back.  I am a pretty decent golfer.  Currently playing at around a 2 (not plus 2).  Swing pretty fast as well.

I will literally play any premium golf ball, and for the life of me, I cannot really tell the difference in them.  About the only big difference I can maybe tell is compression, but once you get up to a full swing on any club, that pretty much ends up feeling the same as well.

I think people say they can tell the difference, but unless you are truly an elite level golfer, there is not a noticeable difference in lets say a Tp5 to a ProV1x to a ChromeSoft to a Vice Pro Plus to an AVX.

I am at the point where if anyone tells me differently, I do not really buy what they are saying.  They all play pretty much the same in my eyes, and unless you are on a launch monitor, the playing difference between all of the different balls is pretty much nothing noticeable on the course.

Really? Talk me into buying the Maxfli Tour over the V1. Needs balls bad and been loving the V1 this year. A perfect ball

for me.

The only thing that may affect your choice over mine is swing speed. My driver SS is only 90 and 7i is only 75.  I stand by my opinions for those in or close to my SS. With that in mind here’s the pluses for Maxfli Tour:

1) 3 piece ball with urethane cover;

2) only 2 points softer overall compression than ProV1

3) very durable, maybe a tick behind titleist but very close;

4) less driver spin and equal stopping power on approach shots;

5) It’s only $105 for 4 dz.

Been playing the AVX for a few years and really like it, but I buy used balls and started having trouble finding them in yellow at a price I want to pay. Played a couple of rounds with chrome soft and liked them. About the same distance with possibly a little more spin noticeable with the wedges. I’ll be adding them to my searches when looking for good prices.

I wonder if it's a GolfWRX thing only or if golfers more generally think in terms of "two balls you play most".

If I asked that of my normal groups I play with every week, I don't think any of them would be able to give me an answer that is two models. A lot of us have one ball we play every round and while we might change from time to time (yearly, whatever) on any given week or month we never even think about playing some other ball.

Others don't care. They'll play anything as long as it's yellow. Or they just say "Bridgestone" and literally don't care what Bridgestone. Or they'll fish for balls in ponds and rough and play the newest-looking ones.

I just can't think of any who would say, "Almost always either Chrome Soft or KIRKLAND" or some other two-ball combination.
