Pulling for Phil but he sure needs to know at his age he needs to reel it in and play smart safe golf. 

He was up by 5 strokes. Should've just grabbed a 5w off the tee and played for fairways.. There was still a par5 left to try and birdie. 

Even if they cut it down to a 3 stroke lead that's still gives you a little cushion. 

After that bogey on 12, there was no way I was hitting anything right bringing water into play, even then he had a good chance at bogey instead of that double. Age and mental fatigue.  Even Tiger imo played a very safe round in his 2019 Masters win

 

Anyway. Lets go Phil and get one

Hey. I thought he had no chance of being at the top of the ‘board at the end of the day yesterday! So I definitely wouldn’t bet against him at this point. I just hope both him and Brooks play well today and it comes down to the final hole.

Kerry does a tremendous job setting up golf courses that challenge players, but also showcases the players. By no means has it been easy for the players, but they have had opportunities to score. If the winning score is mid teens under par that’s great, if it’s single digits that’s great too. The PGA isn’t as obsessed with protecting par as they are putting on a good event.

Yeah. His recent attempts to string together four solid rounds hasn’t exactly inspired confidence. Especially under the conditions out there Thursday and Friday. But he hung in there! 👏🏼

Nothing about his strategy cost him. He hit one bad drive that cost him, one that only sort of cost him, and didn’t make as many putts.

 

His strategy has been deliberate and in no way super-aggressive all week. It’s the reason he’s winning along with mostly swinging decisively.
