I went through my "8802 phase" years ago, and kept a Cleveland Crenshaw. Still pull it out once in a while, its too light though.

I have an 8802 I bought used way back.  Good putter, but someone had ground the sole down to flat for some reason.

The Cleveland Crenshaw stock model was 340 gram head weight. For his personal use Cleveland produced a couple for Ben himself at 310 gram head weight. I think many of the pros who played during the 1970's and 1980's prefer the 305 to 315 gram head weight putters which were standard at that time.

The closest Odyssey came to the one Phil Mickelson uses is the PT82  like he used to win a Masters.  Yet he uses that Odyssey prototype blade!

Who out there ever makes one anymore? I know of Lajosi and Flanigan, but you'd have to custom order and wait weeks. Does any manufacturer make an updated version that is stocked?

Toulon was making the Latrobe but it looks like it’s out of production now.

The 8802, the Black Series #8, and the Toulon Latrobe are all a bit different from Phil's blade.  He wanted one that was more rounded in the back.  The ones I mentioned have a pretty dramatic flat on the back.

 

Phil's putter also has a good deal of offset bent into it.  His current has more than the PT82 design had.  I am not sure whether he has taken some of that offset off the putter in the last year.

 

I believe the PT 82 is the closest you can but to Phil's putter.  It has an insert rather than the milled face of his PGA winning putter.  If you are looking for a very nice, heel-shafted blade putter with the feel and flow of Phil's....get yourself a Toulon Latrobe.  It is very nice.

There's some Yes! Sophia's always floating around that in my opinion have a really nice feel but offer a thicker top line and less of a flange compared to what Phil is using.

Outside of that, there's just not a huge market for the 8802/Napa/#8/Phil Putter style in today's market.  Cool for guys like us to own but unless someone has an old Wilson AP model from a set of sticks they borrowed from their Dad for their once a year beer scramble, I just don't see them on the course very often at all even with the different options over the last few years.

Most that play this classic style putter do not like a modern insert.  I however like my Bettinardi BB2 with the copper insert.  A more affordable option would be a Wilson Fat shaft putter which was made in Right Hand only with a copper insert and 8802 style.  The Bobby Grace 2200 had the soft feeling insert option too.
