Good lord, not sure the Americans could have worn anything uglier. And is there not anyone that can show these girls, both sides, how to fix their damn hair?

Bit of a turkey shoot trying to predict but fun nonetheless.

 

Based on previous Solheims you would favour Boutier/Hall and Korda/Korda for wins.

 

The other 2 matches are more difficult, could go any way.

 

Can't wait, should be great viewing.

First reaction to the opening ceremony.........Why does the USA have to weaponise everything? Rifles onstage, Airforce planes in the air. Why? This is golf, ffs. It's a game.

I have to say that this is a pretty exciting start so far, though I don't understand why after hitting drivers they are hitting from 130-160 yards into the first green on a 306 yard hole.

Also, Balionis either needs to steer into the pomp or go more formal when announcing the matches.  Halfway doesn't work.

Disregard - the graphic now says the hole is 394y which makes a lot more sense.

I’m American but I enjoy all of these players. Whoever wins, women’s golf is the winner. I enjoy the drama of the competition. But I can’t get into being against any team. In golf, I hope everyone plays their best. Good play will prevail. I don’t like extreme partisanship. Am I wrong?

Thats the national flag. And that’s a military color guard presenting it. You’ll find that being armed is the case for color guards in Europe as well when a country’s  national flag is presented….since we continued this practice from them ; )
 

The Euro flag is not a national flag so it makes sense this tradition would not apply.

Solheim cup is such good fun and drama in general. So many now play Jr Solheim and go on to play 'big' Solheim so they have an understanding of what it means.

There's absolutely no excuse for making a friendly sporting event into a military occasion. What would you think of the Japanese army opening the Olympic Games? 

 

Whoever organised this ceremony should be dismissed from the table and sent to bed without supper.

2012 London Games, the Red Arrows did their fly over the Olympic Stadium at the Opening Ceremonies . . . I cannot recall if there were any Regimental pipers in attendance either . . . particularly when the Queen arrived . . . and Im not referring to the James Bond segment! 🤣   Also, the entire beach volleyball competition was held at the horse guard parade grounds.     I too think it's a bit much, but I am not going to get worked up over it.

The USA is obsessed with the military. Its part of the national psyche. 

 

But to have it plastered all over a golf tournament is cringe worthy in the extreme. Especially given the mess on the other side of the world.
